The Rolex Yacht-Master 116655 is the earlier 40 mm Everose-gold Yacht-Master paired with Rolex’s Oysterflex bracelet, introduced in 2015. “Rubber strap” is common shorthand, but Oysterflex is a more complex construction. The current Rolex product page is for the successor 126655, so its specifications and price should not be treated as facts about the 116655.
What the Rolex Yacht-Master 116655 is
Reference 116655 is an earlier Yacht-Master 40 in Rolex’s Everose gold, fitted to an Oysterflex bracelet rather than a conventional metal bracelet. Rolex’s newsroom places the introduction of the Oysterflex-equipped Everose Yacht-Master in 2015; a historical report identifies the 116655 among that year’s Baselworld novelties. Rolex’s 2015 announcement and the historical report provide the launch context.
Rolex says it introduced Everose gold in 2005 and describes the alloy as created and patented by the company. That establishes the material’s history, but does not by itself establish every specification or detail of an individual 116655.
Is the 116655 really on a rubber strap?
“Rubber strap” is useful everyday language, but Rolex calls the assembly Oysterflex. According to Rolex’s current product information, Oysterflex uses a flexible titanium and nickel alloy blade overmoulded with high-performance elastomer, with a patented cushioning system on the inner side. The description is for Rolex’s Oysterflex design; it is more accurate than calling the assembly a simple rubber band.

Rolex’s current page also describes an Oysterflex adjustment system called Glidelock, with approximately 15 mm of adjustment in roughly 2.5 mm increments. Because the official product page found is for the successor 126655, confirm reference-specific fit and bracelet details before applying that adjustment specification to a particular 116655.
116655 vs. 126655: keep the generations separate
Reference 126655 is the successor covered by Rolex’s current product page. That page is useful for understanding the current model, but it is not a substitute for 116655-specific documentation. For example, Rolex lists the 126655 with a 40 mm 18 kt Everose-gold case, bidirectional 60-minute bezel with matt black Cerachrom insert, screw-down Triplock crown, sapphire crystal with Cyclops date lens, 100 m / 330 ft water resistance, calibre 3235, approximately 70-hour power reserve, black dial, Oysterflex bracelet and Superlative Chronometer certification. When comparing listings, identify the reference number first. Then verify the particular watch’s configuration and condition using reference-appropriate records, photographs and documentation rather than relying on a current-generation product page.
Rolex Yacht-Master 116655 price: what can be stated
No representative current transaction range for the 116655 is established here. Individual owner-sale posts cannot establish a reliable market price, and an asking price is not the same as a completed sale. Rolex’s US page displays $37,700 for the current successor, reference 126655; that is a US-listed price for that reference, not a 116655 price or a secondary-market estimate. The displayed amount is volatile and market-specific, so check the current Rolex US listing for the latest successor price.
