Which Ralph Lauren Polo Bear watch is this?
The name alone is not specific enough to identify a watch. The US listings cover three 42 mm Polo Bear designs: Preppy (style 100096969), Tuxedo (style 630530) and Cowboy (style 100062934). Their shared case dimensions and movement family do not make them interchangeable: the artwork, strap and, in one case, the stated power reserve differ.
The figures below come from Ralph Lauren’s product pages and have not been independently checked. Prices and live availability are not included because they are not established here.

What the Preppy listing says
The Preppy is the most fully described of the three US examples. Ralph Lauren lists a polished stainless-steel case, antireflective convex sapphire crystal and exhibition caseback. Its creamy white lacquered dial carries a three-dimensional printed multicolor bear, Arabic numerals and a minute track. The brand lists the regimental silk stripe strap and says the package includes a watch box, instruction manual and guarantee card. These are product-page descriptions, not observations from an independent inspection.
How to interpret the movement and water-resistance figures
Power reserve
Ralph Lauren lists approximately 38 hours for the Preppy and Tuxedo RL200 movements. The Cowboy page is internally inconsistent: its promotional description claims a 50-hour reserve, but its specification block says approximately 38 hours. The available listing does not resolve which figure applies to that reference, so anyone for whom reserve is decisive should seek clarification from Ralph Lauren rather than assume the larger number.

Water resistance
The three cited US pages state 5 bar. This is the manufacturer’s rating, not evidence of a water test by the writer. The supplied product descriptions do not establish how the rating should be interpreted for a particular activity, so consult the watch’s instructions or Ralph Lauren before exposing it to water.
Do not confuse the US RL200 models with the UK Flag Bear
Ralph Lauren’s UK listing for the 42 mm Flag Bear is a separate example, not another name for one of the US models. It identifies style 478047 and lists a 10.4 mm case, 5 bar water resistance, an RL300-1 self-winding calibre, approximately 42-hour reserve, 25 jewels and 4 Hz. The listing describes a Flag Bear dial and two interchangeable straps: brown calfskin and Black Watch tartan tie silk. Differences in movement, thickness, reserve and included straps show why comparisons should name the market and reference, not just “Polo Bear.”

Ralph Lauren’s product copy says the sweater shown on this bear originated on the runway in 1989 and references a photograph of Ralph Lauren wearing the jumper that year. That is brand-provided design context. See the UK Flag Bear product page.
The Polo Bear’s background
Ralph Lauren Watch and Jewelry says the Polo Bear debuted in 1991 as 200 limited-edition bears produced by Steiff and dressed in miniature Polo Ralph Lauren clothing. This is the brand’s account of the character’s origin, rather than independently corroborated historical research. The statement appears in the brand’s 2019 collection press material.

What a listing can—and cannot—tell you
Official pages provide model names, style numbers, described materials and manufacturer-stated specifications. They do not establish independent accuracy, real-world timekeeping, wearing comfort, durability or performance in water. If buying, match the exact style number and market to the product page, especially when checking strap configuration or the Cowboy reserve claim. No particular replacement strap’s compatibility is established by these listings.
