Its main trade-off is right on your wrist: independent reviewer Android Central describes it as heavy, and its 47 mm size will not suit everyone. It makes the most sense for Android users who want a large premium watch and value its outdoor-oriented features; buyers considering it now should compare its local price and features with the newer, separate Galaxy Watch Ultra2.
Which Galaxy Watch Ultra is this?
This review covers the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025), not the original 2024 Ultra or the 2026 Galaxy Watch Ultra2. Samsung’s Korean product page identifies the 2025 model as a 47 mm LTE watch and shows Titanium Blue, Titanium Gray, Titanium White and Titanium Silver finishes. Because that is a regional listing, check the exact model, connectivity and finish offered in your market before buying: Samsung Korea’s Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) product page.
Android Central lists a 1.5-inch, 480 × 480 AMOLED display with peak brightness of 3,000 nits, 64 GB of storage and dual-band GPS. Those are the independent publication’s listed specifications, not results from hands-on testing for this review. Android Central characterizes the 2025 model as a modest refresh, including a Titanium Blue finish and doubled storage; it also notes that One UI features came to the 2024 Ultra through an update. The 2025 watch’s software features therefore should not be treated as exclusive to its hardware generation.
What stands out—and what may not
A bright, capable feature set
The watch combines a large display and 64 GB of storage with LTE and GPS, giving it a broad premium feature set. Its appeal is strongest for someone who wants a substantial smartwatch with fitness and health software, rather than a discreet or lightweight daily watch. Android Central’s listing describes the display as bright and the design as premium; the reviewer also reports positive GPS and heart-rate experiences in their own fitness use. Those observations are that reviewer’s, not independently verified test results here.

Size and weight are the central compromise
Android Central calls the titanium watch heavy. That is a practical concern, not a minor styling preference: a large, weighty case can be uncomfortable for people who prefer smaller watches or are sensitive to wrist bulk. If possible, try the watch on and assess its fit before committing. A premium feature list cannot make an uncomfortable watch a good everyday choice.
Battery reports need context
Android Central’s specification listing says 72 hours, while its reviewer describes consistently getting about three days with the always-on display enabled after Samsung fixed earlier battery-drain problems. The three-day figure is the reviewer’s reported experience, not a guarantee or a manufacturer estimate; actual endurance depends on settings and use. If battery life is a deciding factor, compare reports that use similar display, connectivity and tracking settings.

What One UI 8 Watch adds
Samsung announced One UI 8 Watch availability for the Galaxy Watch Ultra on July 22, 2025. Named features include Running Coach, Vascular Load, Antioxidant Index, Multi-Info Tiles and Now Bar. Samsung’s model-specific update history also describes double-pinch gesture controls, location-based reminders, notification changes, Bedtime Guidance, Mindfulness and customizable tiles. See Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch announcement and the Galaxy Watch Ultra SM-L705F update history.
Feature availability can vary by market, model and paired smartphone; some functions may require network access or a Samsung account. Samsung presents health functions as sources of personal health and fitness insights, not as a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment. The update history also cautions that changes can vary by country and service provider.

Software support and update status
Samsung’s support history for model SM-L705F lists build L705FXXS3BZF4, released July 14, 2026, with AndroidWear 6.0 and the 2026-07-05 security patch level. That is the update recorded on Samsung’s page, not a promise that every regional or carrier version has received it. Check the model-specific log and the update status on the watch in your country.
Should you buy the 2025 Ultra or compare it with Ultra2?
Samsung announced the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 on July 22, 2026, making it a distinct newer generation. Samsung attributes an 800 mAh battery, a display reaching 5,000 nits, a body 12% thinner than its predecessor, trail-running features and dive-related capabilities to Ultra2—not to the 2025 Ultra. Keep those specifications out of any comparison that labels them simply as “Galaxy Watch Ultra” features. See Samsung’s Ultra2 and Watch9 announcement and Samsung Mobile Press’s Ultra2 first look.

Samsung said Ultra2’s advanced diving features were being developed with diving-equipment brand Mares and would require a separate app; its announcement described the app as planned for later in 2026. That dated announcement is not confirmation that the app or every diving feature is available now. Verify present availability in your market before treating it as a purchase-ready capability.
The sources establish no verified current price for either watch in every reader’s market and no controlled head-to-head test of the 2025 Ultra against competitors. Make the decision using the local price and the factors that matter in your use:
Best Value
- Engineered with a durable titanium casing for rugged outdoor performance
- Engineered with a durable titanium casing for lasting performance in demanding outdoor conditions
- Engineered with a titanium casing for rugged durability and lightweight performance
- Advanced sleep coaching helps you improve rest and performance for better daily results
- Engineered with a titanium casing for exceptional durability and lightweight performance, built to endure extreme outdoor adventures.
- Generation and price: Compare the actual local prices of the 2025 Ultra and Ultra2, not an old launch price or a listing with an unclear year.
- Fit: The 2025 model is 47 mm, and Android Central describes it as heavy. Prioritize wrist comfort if you prefer a smaller or lighter watch.
- Display and storage: Android Central lists 3,000-nit peak brightness and 64 GB for the 2025 model. Do not substitute Ultra2’s 5,000-nit display specification.
- Battery: Compare endurance under settings similar to yours. The roughly three-day always-on experience is Android Central’s reviewer report, not a promised result.
- Tracking and software: Consider whether you will use the 2025 model’s fitness and health features, LTE and GPS, and whether they are available with your phone and in your region.
- Support: Check the update history for your exact model and service provider rather than assuming every market receives updates at the same time.
Verdict: who is the 2025 Galaxy Watch Ultra for?
The 2025 Galaxy Watch Ultra is a compelling fit for Android users who want a large, premium smartwatch with LTE, generous storage, a bright display and Samsung’s outdoor-oriented fitness and health software. Its bodacious proportions are also its clearest drawback: if weight or wrist fit matters, try it on or consider a smaller watch. Since Ultra2 is now a separate newer generation, buy the 2025 model only after checking its local price against Ultra2 and confirming that the features you want are available for your phone and region.
