Samsung’s first post-launch firmware update for the Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra began rolling out about a week after sales started in July 2024. It was a regional maintenance release focused on bug fixes, performance, charging stability and battery reliability—not a major new One UI feature update.
The initial international reports listed Watch7 build L310XXU1AXG2 at about 173.5 MB and Watch Ultra build L705FXXU1AXFB at about 330.5 MB. U.S. owners received different model-specific builds, so these numbers are not universal. This is a historical 2024 update report, not a claim about the latest firmware in 2026.
Which watches and firmware versions were covered?
The rollout was staggered by country, carrier, connectivity type and case size. Initial reports appeared around July 30–31, 2024; U.S. availability was reported on August 5, 2024.
| Watch and market | Reported build | Approximate download | Qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Watch7, international 44mm Bluetooth variant | L310XXU1AXG2 |
173.5 MB | Reported size and build; other regions and variants differ. |
| Galaxy Watch Ultra, international variant | L705FXXU1AXFB |
330.5 MB | Reported size and build; regional identifiers differ. |
| Galaxy Watch Ultra, United States | L705USQU1AXG2 |
Not stated | U.S. report published August 5, 2024. |
| Galaxy Watch7 40mm, United States | L305USQU1AXG2 |
Not stated | Separate 40mm model code. |
| Galaxy Watch7 44mm, United States | L315USQU1AXG2 |
Not stated | Separate 44mm model code. |
SamMobile documented the international release and reported sizes in its launch-update report. PhoneArena reported the U.S. builds and timing in its U.S. rollout coverage. Bluetooth and LTE editions can use different firmware identifiers, so check the exact model shown on your watch rather than matching a screenshot from another country.

What did Samsung change?
The published changelog was deliberately general. It described:
- Bug fixes.
- General performance improvements.
- Improved device stability.
- Improved charging stability.
- Improved battery stability or reliability.
In practical terms, this is a maintenance patch intended to make the watches more dependable. The U.S. changelog coverage from Droid Life used similar stability, charging and battery language without naming individual defects.
Android Headlines reported a June 1, 2024 security level for the launch patch. That date was not necessarily universal across every market, so verify the security status on your own watch.

Is this the battery-drain fix?
Some early Watch7 and Watch Ultra owners reported unusually short runtimes. Reporting from Android Central said Samsung had identified a cause of battery discharge and was preparing software work. The timing and the changelog’s battery-stability wording make this update relevant to those complaints.

However, Samsung did not publicly promise in the first update’s changelog that it completely fixed battery drain. Treat it as a patch that may improve charging and battery behavior, not as a guaranteed cure for every unit. Evaluate runtime over several normal charge-and-use cycles. LTE activity, GPS, always-on display, continuous health sensors, workouts, brightness, notifications and phone connectivity can all change endurance.
Immediately after installation, background optimization can temporarily affect battery use. If extreme drain continues after several cycles, restart the watch, review power-hungry settings and app updates, and contact Samsung if the problem persists. A factory reset should be a later step because it erases setup and data unless backed up.

Was One UI 6 Watch updated with new features?
No. Galaxy Watch7 and Watch Ultra launched with Wear OS 5 and Samsung’s One UI 6 Watch interface. The first post-launch patch was primarily corrective.
Energy Score, Sleep Insights, custom workout routines, new watch faces, Double Pinch gestures, interface changes and Galaxy AI-powered health recommendations were associated with the broader One UI 6 Watch experience. They should not all be described as features newly delivered by this small firmware patch. Samsung later announced wider One UI 6 Watch availability for older models in a separate U.S. Newsroom announcement; that rollout is unrelated to the first Watch7 and Ultra maintenance update.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow to install the update
From the Galaxy Wearable app
- Keep the paired phone and watch connected and near each other.
- Open Galaxy Wearable on the phone.
- Open the watch settings and select Watch software update (the wording can vary).
- Tap Download and install or Update now.
- Follow the prompts and let the watch reboot and finish the installation.
Samsung’s support guidance says a network connection is required and the watch may need at least 30% battery. A practical buffer of 50% or more is sensible, but 30% is the cited Samsung minimum. See Samsung’s software-update instructions.

Directly on the watch
- Open Settings on the watch.
- Tap General.
- Tap Watch software update.
- Check for the update and approve the download and installation if it is offered.
The watch may disconnect, reboot and show a progress bar or rotating animation. Do not remove it from the charger or force a restart while installation is running. Samsung documents this route in its smart-watch update troubleshooting guide.
How to verify the installed build
- Open Settings on the watch.
- Tap About watch.
- Open Software information.
This screen shows the software version and security status. Menu labels can change with software revisions; if necessary, search Settings for “software information.” Samsung’s Watch7 documentation is available through its support model page.

A missing update does not automatically indicate a fault. Samsung commonly stages firmware by country, carrier, product code and model.
Best Value
- Next-Generation 3nm Processor: Exynos W1000 chipset delivers significantly faster performance and smoother app navigation.
- Your market or carrier has not received the release yet.
- You have a 40mm rather than 44mm Watch7, or Bluetooth rather than LTE hardware.
- Your watch is already on a newer build.
- The phone-watch connection, network or Samsung server is temporarily unavailable.
- Samsung has paused or withdrawn a staged release.
Try these checks in order:
- Restart both the watch and paired phone.
- Confirm the watch is connected in Galaxy Wearable.
- Reopen the update screen and retry on a reliable connection.
- Use the on-watch path under Settings → General → Watch software update.
- Confirm adequate charge and free storage.
- Wait for the rollout for your exact region and model if no build is offered.
- Contact Samsung support if downloads repeatedly fail or the watch becomes stuck.
Do not manually sideload a firmware file simply to match an international build. Model-code and recovery mistakes can disable the watch, and the cited sources do not establish a safe general flashing procedure.
What to expect after installation
- The update may produce no visible feature change because its purpose is reliability.
- Monitor battery behavior across several days rather than judging it immediately after reboot.
- Owners with important travel or workout plans may prefer to update when they can observe the restart and charging behavior.
- A watch already running a newer firmware should not be downgraded to one of these 2024 builds.
For persistent severe drain, repeated installation failure or a watch that remains frozen after allowing the progress screen to complete, use Samsung support and warranty channels rather than third-party firmware services.
The Bottom Line
Samsung’s first Galaxy Watch7 and Watch Ultra update was a regional July–August 2024 stability patch. Install the build offered for your exact model and country, but treat its battery language as an improvement target—not proof of a universal battery-drain fix.
