If the Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch FE are similarly priced in your market, the Watch7 is the stronger default: it has a newer processor, more RAM and storage, and a larger display option. The FE can still suit buyers who want a 40 mm watch for less, but compare the exact size, connectivity version, local price, and features you need before choosing.
Both watches offer Samsung BioActive health sensing and core smartwatch features. Neither should be treated as a medical diagnostic device, and Samsung says compatibility and supported functions can vary by phone, market, carrier, and model.
Galaxy Watch7 vs. Galaxy Watch FE: quick verdict
| Buy this | When it makes sense |
|---|---|
| Galaxy Watch7 | When local prices are close, or you want the newer processor, more RAM and storage, or a choice of 40 mm and 44 mm sizes. |
| Galaxy Watch FE | When it is substantially cheaper and its 40 mm size and advertised features meet your needs. |
| Neither | If you need iOS or Huawei compatibility, or expect a watch to diagnose a medical condition. |
There is no established current, like-for-like price comparison across markets, so there is no universal price threshold for choosing one. Compare listings for the same connectivity type and, where applicable, compare the FE with the Watch7 40 mm before deciding whether the Watch7 44 mm is worth its extra cost.
Specifications compared
Samsung’s comparison lists the following specifications. Figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. Samsung’s Galaxy Watch7 vs. Watch FE comparison was updated in July 2026.

The differences that matter in everyday use
Hardware, storage, and size
The Watch7 has an Exynos W1000 processor, 2 GB RAM, and 32 GB storage. The FE has an Exynos W920, 1.5 GB RAM, and 16 GB storage. Those specifications give the Watch7 more hardware and storage headroom, although the dossier does not establish a controlled performance comparison.
The FE comes in a 40 mm size. The Watch7 is available in 40 mm and 44 mm, with a larger listed display in the 44 mm model. Choose by fit and readability as well as specifications: a larger case may not suit every wrist.
Health and fitness features
Samsung lists BioActive sensing functions including heart rate, ECG, and BIA for both models. Its comparison also lists skin-temperature and blood-pressure sensor entries for Watch7. Samsung’s FE announcement describes health and fitness functions including heart alerts, ECG, sleep tools, and tracking for more than 100 workout types.
These are manufacturer-described features, not evidence that one watch is clinically more accurate. Samsung says FE health features are intended for general wellness and fitness, not for detecting, diagnosing, or treating disease. Availability and support can depend on the phone, country, carrier, software, and exact model.

Battery capacity is not battery life
Samsung lists 300 mAh for the Watch7 40 mm, 425 mAh for the Watch7 44 mm, and 247 mAh for the FE. The 44 mm Watch7 has the largest stated capacity, but capacity alone does not establish which watch will last longer in a particular person’s use. Display settings, connectivity, workouts, and other usage can affect runtime.
Software status in 2026
Samsung’s device-specific update pages list AndroidWear 6.0 updates for the SM-L300 Watch7 and SM-R861 FE. The Watch7 update is dated 6 July 2026, and the FE update is dated 24 August 2026. These records are for the named device codes; Samsung says update changes and timing can vary by model, country, and operator.
Check the update page and support information for the exact model and region you intend to buy. A software update does not change the watches’ underlying processor, RAM, storage, or case-size options.
Compatibility and connectivity
Samsung lists Android 11 or later, at least 1.5 GB of phone memory, and Google Mobile Services for supported third-party device compatibility. Its comparison page lists no compatibility with iOS or Huawei devices. Check Samsung’s compatibility information for your exact phone and the particular features you plan to use.
Connectivity options vary by market and model. Samsung’s global FE announcement says LTE is available only on LTE models and that availability varies by market; Samsung’s regional comparison also distinguishes eSIM support by variant. Before buying, confirm the local SKU, carrier support, and any plan requirements rather than assuming every FE or Watch7 has the same connectivity.

How to compare prices before buying
Prices change by country, retailer, size, connectivity, and promotion. The research does not establish a current matched-market price for the two watches, so use these steps rather than relying on a fixed dollar premium:
- Compare like with like. Match Bluetooth models with Bluetooth models, or LTE with LTE.
- Compare the right size. Start with the FE and Watch7 40 mm; consider the Watch7 44 mm separately if you want its larger case and display.
- Check the exact model and region. Confirm local compatibility, supported functions, and connectivity with Samsung and your carrier.
- Consider your storage needs. The Watch7 has 32 GB listed storage; the FE has 16 GB.
- Choose based on your use. If the price difference is small, the Watch7’s newer hardware is the stronger default. If the FE is substantially cheaper and its features suit you, it remains a reasonable budget option.
Who should buy each watch?
Buy the Galaxy Watch7 if you:
- want the newer processor and more RAM and storage;
- want a choice between 40 mm and 44 mm;
- prefer the larger display option; or
- find it at a price close to the FE in your market.
Consider the Galaxy Watch FE if you:
- want a 40 mm watch;
- are comfortable with its listed processor, RAM, and storage;
- find it substantially cheaper than a comparable Watch7; and
- have confirmed that your phone and region support the functions you want.
Final recommendation
The Watch7 is the stronger default when the two watches are similarly priced, thanks to its newer processor, greater RAM and storage, and two case-size choices. The FE remains a plausible lower-cost option for buyers who want a 40 mm watch and do not need the Watch7’s additional hardware headroom.
