It comes in one 46mm size, with Bluetooth/Wi-Fi or LTE connectivity. Its defining features are a physical rotating bezel, a traditional watch design, 64GB of storage and Samsung’s latest sleep, fitness and wellness tools. The trade-offs are a large, heavy case and battery life that can mean daily charging with demanding use.
Release date and availability
Samsung announced the Galaxy Watch8 Classic on July 9, 2025, when preorders began in the U.S. and selected markets. General U.S. availability started July 25, 2025. As of August 2026, it is a released product, not an upcoming model. Availability, colors and cellular support vary by market. Samsung’s U.S. launch announcement has the launch timeline.
Models and U.S. price
Samsung’s June 2026 U.S. MSRP sheet lists two connectivity options. These are list prices, not a guarantee of current sale prices; promotions and trade-in values change.
| Model | June 2026 U.S. MSRP | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Bluetooth/Wi-Fi, 46mm | $499.99 | Best suited to people who usually carry their phone and do not want a separate watch cellular plan. |
| LTE, 46mm | $549.99 | Can connect away from the phone when activated with a compatible carrier plan; the plan may add a recurring fee. |
The LTE model does not include free cellular service. Check that your carrier supports the watch, its number-sharing or standalone service, and the relevant network bands before buying. Samsung’s June 2026 U.S. MSRP sheet lists the prices.

Design, size and rotating bezel
The Classic combines a round, traditional-looking case with a physical rotating bezel. Turning the bezel scrolls through screens and controls, offering a tactile alternative to swiping a small display. It can be especially useful when navigating notifications or workout screens, but touch controls remain available, and the bezel may turn unintentionally with some clothing, gloves or wrist movements.
- Size: 46mm only; dimensions are 46.0 × 46.4 × 10.6mm.
- Weight: 63.5g without the strap.
- Controls: rotating bezel and three buttons, including a programmable Quick Button.
- Colors: Samsung U.S. materials list Black and White; options vary by market.
The large case gives the watch a substantial presence but may feel cumbersome on smaller wrists, under tight sleeves or during sleep. The standard Galaxy Watch8 is available in 40mm and 44mm sizes and is lighter, so the Classic is not simply the better fit for everyone.
Display and specifications
The Classic has a 1.34-inch Super AMOLED display with 438 × 438 resolution, a full-color Always-On Display option and sapphire-crystal protection. Samsung advertises brightness of up to 3,000 nits for the Watch8 lineup; that is Samsung’s claim, not an independently verified measurement here. Despite the Classic’s larger case, its screen is smaller than the 1.47-inch display on the 44mm standard Watch8.

Software and everyday use
Wear OS 6 and One UI 8 Watch provide Samsung’s interface alongside Google services. Gemini integration supports voice-based requests, and Wear OS offers third-party apps through Google’s ecosystem, subject to regional availability and phone compatibility. Samsung’s official launch details describe the software and hardware here.
A One UI 9 Watch beta build for the Classic was reportedly spotted on Samsung test servers in August 2026. That report does not establish a stable public update for every model or region; check Samsung’s update notices for your market rather than treating the beta sighting as a released feature. Android Central reported the beta sighting.

- Signature Rotating Bezel: Physical rotating bezel provides precise, tactile navigation through apps, menus, and notifications.
Health and fitness features
The watch combines Samsung’s BioActive sensor with optical heart-rate sensing, electrical heart-signal hardware, bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), an infrared temperature sensor and motion and environmental sensors, including an accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic, Hall and light sensors. Together with GPS and Samsung Health, these support workout recording and a broad set of health and wellness features.
Sleep and recovery
Sleep tracking and sleep-pattern analysis feed features such as Bedtime Guidance and Energy Score. Samsung also offers vascular-load monitoring during sleep. These are wellness insights, not a diagnosis; trends and estimates should not be treated as a substitute for medical advice.
Running and workouts
Running Coach can provide personalized workout plans, while the watch tracks workouts and uses GPS for outdoor activity. LTE can let some users leave their phone behind for connected services, but it also brings carrier requirements and can shorten time between charges.

Heart, body composition and other wellness measures
The electrical heart sensor supports ECG functions where available. Blood-pressure monitoring may also be offered in supported markets. These features can require Samsung Health Monitor, a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone, regional approval and, for blood pressure, calibration or additional requirements. BIA estimates body composition rather than directly measuring it. Samsung’s Antioxidant Index estimates skin carotenoid levels; it is not a complete nutritional assessment or medical test. Availability differs by country, phone and software.
Samsung’s Canada Bluetooth product page and Canada LTE product page list product and health details. Feature access can differ from one market or phone configuration to another.
Battery life and charging expectations
The 445mAh battery is rated by Samsung for up to 40 hours with Always-On Display off and up to 30 hours with it on. These are Samsung figures based on controlled testing with prerelease hardware and software, not guarantees for a particular person’s daily use. The UK Bluetooth specifications provide battery information.

Independent reviews describe battery life as a weakness: demanding use can bring runtime down to roughly a day, particularly with features such as AOD, LTE, GPS, streaming, frequent health measurements or voice-assistant use. Light use may last longer, but buyers should plan for nightly or near-daily charging rather than multi-day endurance. See Android Central’s review and TechRadar’s review for independent testing context.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Phone compatibility
The Watch8 Classic is designed for Android, not iPhone. Samsung’s global launch material specifies Android 12 or later and more than 1.5GB of phone memory. Meeting those minimums does not ensure every feature works: some Samsung Health functions require a compatible Galaxy phone, Samsung software or local regulatory approval. Non-Samsung Android users should confirm the functions they care about before purchase. Samsung’s global announcement gives the published compatibility baseline, while the U.S. product page describes the product and feature requirements.

Quick Recap
Is the Galaxy Watch8 Classic worth buying?
- Choose it if you specifically want a physical rotating bezel, a traditional premium look and more on-watch storage, especially with a Samsung Galaxy phone.
- Choose Bluetooth/Wi-Fi if your phone is usually with you and you want to avoid a watch cellular plan.
- Choose LTE if you often want calls or connected services away from your phone and have confirmed carrier support and plan costs.
- Consider the standard Watch8 if lower weight, a smaller size or lower list price matters more than the bezel.
- Consider the Ultra if rugged outdoor use is the priority and you accept its higher price and less traditional design.
- Keep a healthy Watch6 Classic unless the newer processor, storage or health features solve a real need; the bezel and core appeal alone may not justify replacing it.
- Skip it if you use an iPhone, need multi-day battery life, or find a 46mm, 63.5g watch uncomfortable.
