The Schofield Bronze Beater B4 is a 2021 limited-edition mechanical watch whose case the maker describes as Japanese bronze. Schofield says the case is heavily patinated, but its announcement does not specify an alloy or establish that the metal was mined or smelted in Japan. The Japanese theme also appears in the indigo-inspired dial, Mudcloth strap and illustrated case back.
What “Japanese bronze” means on the B4
Schofield named the watch the “Japanese edition Bronze Beater B4” and describes its case as Japanese bronze. Independent launch coverage also identifies the bronze and broader design as Japanese-inspired. Those descriptions support the model’s name and design intent, not a specific alloy composition or the bronze’s place of origin. The maker describes the case as heavily patinated. Schofield’s product announcement is the primary source for its wording.
How the Japanese theme appears in the design
- Dial: Schofield says the double-indigo color references Boro cloth, a Japanese textile tradition. The dial uses Super-LumiNova C3.
- Strap: The supplied strap is described as Japanese Mudcloth; the strap bars are titanium.
- Case back: The stainless-steel back depicts Daruma-San and a Tokyo drain-cover-inspired design with ginkgo and cherry blossom imagery.

Schofield lists the dimensions, weight, movement, reserve, water resistance and edition size in its official announcement. Worn & Wound’s 2021 launch coverage independently corroborates the principal dimensions and movement-related and water-resistance figures.
Edition size and launch price
Schofield announced a run of 29 watches. The reported UK launch price was £3,280 including UK VAT, according to Worn & Wound (July 9, 2021) and Fratello (July 14, 2021). That is historical launch pricing, not a current asking price or a guide to today’s resale value.

Is the Schofield B4 still available?
Current inventory is not established by the available listings. Kibble Watches’ specialist listing is a place to check, but its existence alone does not confirm that a watch is in stock. Schofield’s related B5 page is marked sold out; that does not establish the B4’s status. No current B4 availability on Amazon has been verified.
For a scarce watch, confirm that the specific example is actually for sale and ask for clear photographs, condition details, service history and documentation supporting its provenance. Compare the seller’s current asking price with the watch’s condition and included items rather than treating the 2021 launch price as a present-day valuation.
