The 2022 Seiko Astron GPS Solar 5X53 Dual-Time series introduced three standard references—SSH107, SSH109, and SSH111—with a titanium, GPS-setting design built around Seiko’s 5X53 caliber. Its headline practical feature is quick time-zone adjustment by button, alongside dual-time display and world time covering 39 time zones. Seiko announced the models on 13 April 2022 and said they would reach its boutiques and selected retailers worldwide from July that year; that launch schedule does not confirm present-day stock.
What was new about the 2022 5X53 Dual-Time?
Seiko’s 13 April 2022 announcement introduced SSH107, SSH109, and SSH111 as new-design additions to the main Astron collection. The case and bracelet use titanium with a super-hard coating, while the design features H-shaped bracelet links and sapphire protection over the bezel. Seiko’s 2022 announcement and 2022 collection page describe the series.
The same announcement also introduced SSH113, a separate 10th-anniversary limited edition. It is not one of the three standard references in the 2022 design series.
How does the 5X53 work?
Caliber 5X53 is a GPS Solar movement: light supplies its power, and GPS reception can set the time and time zone. Seiko says the watch may attempt to connect to the GPS network up to twice a day to maintain precision. Reception depends on conditions; the stated behavior is not a guarantee that a connection will succeed in every location or environment. Seiko notes that the watch detects sunlight to determine when to connect, and if it is kept away from light, it uses the time of its previous successful manual connection to schedule an attempt.

- Includes individual box, Japanese warranty (1 year), and individual box
- Solar radio wave correction function (receives standard radio waves in Japan, China, USA, Germany, and UK)
- Full auto-calendar function (until December 31, 2099)

When a time-zone change is needed, the wearer can use a button to adjust the time zone, with the hands moving independently for rapid adjustment. The watch also allows home and local time to be transferred between the main dial and subdial. Seiko’s announcement says automatic daylight-saving adjustment applies after a successful time-zone adjustment; it does not apply when a time zone is selected manually.

Seiko lists these functions in its 5X53 caliber information and announcement.
SSH107, SSH109, and SSH111: what is established?
Seiko identifies all three as standard models in the series, but its announcement and collection page do not establish a complete, directly comparable set of dimensions, weights, or live prices for each reference. They support the shared family description, not assumptions about unlisted differences. Check the reference number and specifications for the exact regional model before purchase.

For SSH109 specifically, Seiko’s UK product page lists these specifications:
| SSH109 specification | Seiko-listed value |
|---|---|
| Movement | Caliber 5X53 GPS Solar |
| Case and bracelet | Titanium with super-hard coating |
| Crystal | Sapphire |
| Case diameter | 42.7 mm |
| Thickness | 12.2 mm |
| Lug-to-lug | 48.0 mm |
| Distance between lugs | 14 mm |
| Weight | 105.0 g |
| Water resistance | 10 bar |
| Power reserve | Approximately six months fully charged without power save; approximately two years maximum when power save activates after a full charge |
These dimensions and weight are SSH109 specifications, not confirmed measurements for SSH107 or SSH111. Case measurements also cannot determine fit on a particular wrist; the 48.0 mm lug-to-lug measurement is useful to compare with a watch that already fits you. See Seiko’s SSH109 specification page.

Seiko specifies accuracy of ±15 seconds per month when GPS signal reception is not being used and the watch is operated between 5°C and 35°C. This is a stated specification under those conditions, not a promise of identical performance in all temperatures or operating modes.

- 2 Year International Warranty
The 5X53 user guide gives approximately six months of operation from a full charge without power save, and approximately two years at maximum if power save activates after a full charge. The longer figure is conditional on power save; it should not be read as the normal reserve for a watch operating without that function. Seiko provides the complete 5X53 user guide and handy manual through its instruction and support page.
Is a 2022 model still available?
Seiko’s July 2022 launch timing is historical and does not establish current availability. Stock and pricing can vary by country, retailer, and reference. Check with Seiko or an authorized retailer in your market, and confirm the full reference—SSH107, SSH109, or SSH111—on the listing rather than relying on a family name alone.
