Seiko’s 2024 Astron Starry Sky limited editions pair a streamlined GPS Solar watch, the SSJ027J1, with a larger GPS Solar chronograph offering dual time, the SSH157J1. Seiko Hungary reported that each reference was limited to 1,500 pieces. Their July 2024 expected arrival and Hungarian launch prices are historical; current availability and pricing depend on region and retailer.
How the SSJ027J1 and SSH157J1 differ
The central choice is between a smaller, simpler watch and a larger model with additional timing and time-zone functions. Both use GPS Solar technology and share the pale-blue Starry Sky design, but their movements, dimensions, and complications differ.

The SSH157J1 is 2.1 mm wider and 1.4 mm thicker than the SSJ027J1 based on those published dimensions. The SSJ027J1 is the more compact option on paper; the SSH157J1 adds chronograph and dual-time capability.
What the Starry Sky design means
Seiko described the watches’ translucent, pale-blue dials as three-dimensional geometric patterns intended to evoke stars. The dial design also accommodates the solar panel beneath it, so light can power the watch. The shared look links the two editions, while their different case sizes and functions give them distinct wrist presence and use cases.

SSJ027J1: the slimmer 3X62 GPS Solar model
The Seiko Boutique UK product sheet lists a titanium case with super-hard coating, titanium bracelet, blue dial, and sapphire crystal with super-clear coating. It specifies 10 bar water resistance and an approximate power reserve of six months when fully charged, extending to approximately two years in power-save mode.
Its listed functions include a perpetual calendar through February 28, 2100, GPS reception and time adjustment, a power-reserve indicator, and in-flight mode. These are product-sheet specifications, not an independent test. For details, see the Seiko Boutique UK SSJ027J1 product sheet.

SSH157J1: chronograph and dual time in a larger case
Seiko Hungary identifies the SSH157J1 as a Calibre 5X83 GPS Solar Chronograph with dual-time functionality and 1/20-second chronograph timing. Its published specifications include a titanium case and bracelet, ceramic bezel, curved sapphire crystal, 10 bar water resistance, and approximately six months of power reserve, or two years in energy-saving mode.

Edition size, launch timing, and historical prices
Seiko Hungary reported a production quantity of 1,500 pieces for each model. That figure describes the announced edition size; it does not establish how many have sold or whether either reference is scarce on today’s market.
The same June 3, 2024 article said both watches were expected to arrive in July 2024 and listed Hungarian launch prices of 900,000 Ft for SSJ027J1 and 1,050,000 Ft for SSH157J1. These are historical prices for Hungary, not current prices or a guide to prices in other markets. Current stock, resale offers, and regional pricing have not been established here, so check local Seiko retailers for present-day information.

Movement context: do not confuse SSH157 with other 5X83 releases
Seiko Watch Corporation’s March 19, 2024 press release covered other 5X83 models—SSH151, SSH153, SSH155, and SSH156—not SSH157. It provides broader context for the 5X83 and GPS Solar functions, but it is not a product announcement or specification source for SSH157J1. The Seiko Watch Corporation press release is useful for that distinction.
