Seiko lists both the SRPG05J1 and SRPG09J1 in its Presage Style60’s collection, and both use the 4R35 caliber. The verified information does not establish a complete reference-by-reference specification comparison: the SRPG05J1 is described by a retailer as having a blue dial, but the corresponding exact-model details for the SRPG09J1 could not be confirmed. If you are choosing between them, verify the dial, bracelet or strap, dimensions, water resistance, and local price on the listing for the exact reference before buying.
What the SRPG05J1 and SRPG09J1 have in common
Seiko identifies both references as members of its Presage Style60’s series and lists caliber 4R35 for each on its Style60’s collection page. Seiko positions the collection as a modern interpretation of its 1964 Crown Chronograph, a watch the company describes as Seiko’s and Japan’s first wristwatch equipped with a stopwatch function. The modern collection’s styling includes box-shaped glass, faceted indexes, sharp hand designs, and contrasting finishes on the inner dial and outer index area.
Those are collection-level descriptions, not a complete specification sheet for either reference. Seiko also discusses dial colors including black, brown, ivory, blue, and green, and notes that the SRPG05J1 and SRPG09J1 are among models with slightly faded Lumibrite. That statement does not, by itself, confirm the precise dial color or every detail of the lume on each watch.
What is confirmed about each reference
| Detail | SRPG05J1 | SRPG09J1 |
|---|---|---|
| Style60’s collection member | Yes; Seiko collection page | Yes; Seiko collection page |
| Movement | 4R35; Seiko collection page | 4R35; Seiko collection page |
| Dial color | Blue, according to a retailer listing; confirm against the exact regional listing | Not established by the available exact-reference details |
| Bracelet or strap, dimensions, crystal, water resistance, current price | Not established by the available exact-reference details | Not established by the available exact-reference details |
A retailer describes the SRPG05J1 as stainless steel, blue-dial, 5 bar (50 m) water resistant, and fitted with caliber 4R35. Its listing is useful corroboration, but Seiko’s regional product page or an authorized local retailer is the stronger place to confirm the specification for the precise market and variant. The available evidence does not support transferring that retailer’s details to the SRPG09J1.

Why similar Style60’s specifications are not enough
Seiko’s regional page for the SRPG03J1 gives figures for that reference: 40.8 mm diameter, 12.0 mm thickness, 47.0 mm lug-to-lug, approximately 41 hours of power reserve, 23 jewels, box-shaped Hardlex crystal, 5 bar water resistance, and a see-through screw caseback. It also describes the 4R35 as automatic with manual winding. These SRPG03J1 specifications are not confirmed specifications for the SRPG05J1 or SRPG09J1, so they should not be used to infer either watch’s exact fit or construction.
What to check before choosing
- Match the complete reference. Confirm that the product page, warranty documentation, and watch itself say SRPG05J1 or SRPG09J1. Similar collection styling or a shared movement does not guarantee identical parts or specifications.
- Compare the actual dial and case details. Check retailer photographs and the regional Seiko page for the dial, bezel, finishing, and lume on the exact reference. Collection-wide color descriptions are not a substitute for model-specific confirmation.
- Check bracelet or strap and fit. Verify the supplied band, lug-to-lug length, case diameter, and thickness. Do not rely on another Style60’s reference for these values.
- Confirm water resistance for your use. Use the exact model’s official specification and follow Seiko’s operating guidance; do not assume SRPG05J1 retailer details apply to SRPG09J1.
- Compare local price, stock, and warranty. Availability and prices vary by market and change over time. Check an authorized retailer in your region and confirm that the listing is for the precise reference, not a visually similar Style60’s watch.
Which one should you choose?
The confirmed shared points—Style60’s membership and 4R35 caliber—do not establish a decisive technical advantage for either reference. The SRPG05J1 has retailer-described blue-dial detail, while the precise SRPG09J1 differences and a complete exact-model specification comparison are not established here. Choose by the dial and configuration shown on a verified exact-reference listing, then compare fit, water resistance, warranty, and price using the regional product information before ordering.
