The Seiko Prospex SPB107 is a 500-piece Topper Fine Jewelers limited edition built on the SPB077 1968 Diver’s Modern Re-interpretation platform. Its defining look pairs a black-coated case and black date wheel with an orange-tipped seconds hand; collectors also call it the “Topper Ninja.”
What is the SPB107 Topper Limited Edition?
Topper Fine Jewelers introduced the SPB107 in February 2019 as a collaboration involving the retailer, Seiko and designer Asher Rapkin. Topper described it as the seventh entry in its special-edition series and based its case and dial architecture on Seiko’s SPB077 diver. The SPB077 belongs to Seiko’s 1968 Automatic Diver’s Modern Re-interpretation family. Topper’s launch article identifies the reference as SPB107 and lists Japan as its place of manufacture; Seiko’s announcement describes the SPB077 platform.
“Topper Ninja” is a nickname used by collectors and press, according to Topper’s retrospective, rather than the formal model name. Topper’s look back at its edition watches also says the SPB107 sold out. That historical statement does not rule out later new-old-stock or pre-owned examples.
How does the SPB107 differ from the SPB077?
The SPB107 retains the SPB077 platform’s case and dial architecture but gives it a distinctive black-and-orange treatment. Topper’s product description identifies a super-hard black case coating, a black date wheel, an orange-tipped seconds hand, white LumiBrite and sapphire crystal. The watch was offered on a silicone dive strap with a redesigned Prospex pin buckle. Topper’s product listing describes these edition details.

The most useful distinction is therefore not a different movement or case platform, but the edition’s appearance, strap and provenance. The black coating is a finish to inspect closely on a used watch: ask for clear photographs of the case edges, bezel and other coated surfaces rather than assuming the coating is unmarked.
SPB107 and SPB077 platform specifications
Seiko’s official SPB077/079 announcement and Cal. 6R15 manual support the technical figures below. They establish the SPB077 platform and movement specifications, not a separate Seiko-published SPB107 specification sheet. Topper’s launch listing independently gives the SPB107’s 44 mm by 13.1 mm dimensions, 20 mm lugs, 200 m water resistance and 6R15 movement.

Seiko’s 6R15 manual gives a stated daily-rate range of +25 to -15 seconds under its normal-temperature conditions. That is a movement specification, not a guarantee that an individual watch will keep time within that range in every wearer’s use: Seiko notes that mechanical-watch rate varies with use and conditions. The manual also confirms automatic winding with a manual-winding mechanism and time/date functions. How many SPB107 watches were made?
Topper reported a run of 500 individually numbered pieces in its 2019 launch article. The number refers to the edition, not to a count of examples currently available. When considering a specific watch, request a photograph of its limited-edition number and certificate, if included.

Can you still buy the Seiko SPB107?
Topper’s retrospective describes the edition as sold out, but that does not establish current market-wide availability. Individual pre-owned or new-old-stock watches may appear, and listings can change. Topper has published a pre-owned listing for an SPB107; its status and price should be checked directly rather than treated as a current market quotation. Check Topper’s pre-owned listing.

What to check before buying
- Reference and edition provenance: Confirm that the watch is the SPB107, not the visually related SPB077, and ask for the numbered certificate or other provenance documentation.
- Condition: Request close-up images of the black coating, bezel, sapphire crystal, hands and dial. Ask about scratches, chips, refinishing or replacement parts.
- Completeness: Establish which boxes, manual, warranty card, hangtags and original strap are actually included. A pre-owned listing may describe a particular package; that does not mean every example has the same contents.
- Seller protection: Confirm the current return policy and whether any seller warranty transfers to a later owner.
- Price and availability: Check the live listing and compare the specific watch’s condition and included materials. Do not use the 2019 launch price as a present-day benchmark.
- Strap fit: The listed lug width is 20 mm, but check the dimensions, buckle and fit of any replacement strap before ordering.
