Seiko’s “Antarctica” Save the Ocean diver is a design theme shared by two distinct references: the SRPG57K1 and SRPG59K1. The SRPG57 has a steel bracelet, day/date display and 4R36 movement; the SRPG59 has a silicone strap, date display and 4R35 movement. Seiko announced both in 2021, with blue dials inspired by Antarctic ice and penguin tracks.
What is the Seiko “Antarctica” watch?
“Antarctica” describes the theme of two Seiko Prospex Save the Ocean Special Edition divers, not an official model name or reference. Seiko’s May 2021 announcement identifies them as SRPG57K1 and SRPG59K1. The SRPG57 is also listed as SRPG57 on Seiko’s Canadian and US product pages.
Seiko says the gradient, textured dial evokes light reflecting off ice and penguin footprints in snow. Its US product page also connects the design to Antarctic conservation and Seiko divers used as equipment by the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition. These are Seiko’s design and heritage descriptions.
SRPG57K1 vs. SRPG59K1: what differs?
| Detail | SRPG57K1 / SRPG57 | SRPG59K1 |
|---|---|---|
| Movement and display | Caliber 4R36 automatic with manual winding; day and date; approximately 41-hour power reserve, according to Seiko’s current Canadian product page. | Caliber 4R35 automatic with manual winding; date only; more than 41-hour power reserve, according to Seiko’s 2021 German announcement. |
| Band | Stainless-steel bracelet. | Durable silicone strap. |
| Case dimensions | Seiko’s Canadian page lists 42.4 mm diameter, 13.4 mm thickness and 49.4 mm lug-to-lug. Its 2021 German announcement lists 42.0 mm diameter and 13.0 mm height. | Seiko’s 2021 German announcement lists 43.0 mm diameter and 13.0 mm height. A regional Seiko listing surfaced in search results gives 43.2 mm diameter and 12.6 mm thickness; those figures should not be treated as interchangeable across markets. |
| Water resistance | Seiko lists 200 m / 660 ft diver’s water resistance on its Canadian product page. | Seiko’s 2021 announcement specifies 200 m diver’s / 20 bar. |
| Crystal | Hardlex with magnified glass, per Seiko’s Canadian page. | Hardlex, per Seiko’s 2021 announcement. |
Both are automatic watches with manual winding and a blue Antarctic-inspired dial. Their practical distinction is straightforward: choose the SRPG57 if you want a bracelet and day/date display; choose the SRPG59 if you prefer the silicone-strap configuration and a date-only display. The published case figures vary by market and source, so use the specification page for the market where you are buying rather than combining measurements into a single purportedly universal set.

SRPG57 specifications and fit
Seiko’s current Canadian SRPG57 page lists a 42.4 mm case diameter, 13.4 mm thickness, 49.4 mm lug-to-lug measurement and 20 mm distance between lugs. It specifies Caliber 4R36, a day/date display, approximately 41 hours of power reserve and 200 m / 660 ft diver’s water resistance. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently verified measurements or test results.
The 20 mm lug distance can help when searching for a replacement or alternate strap, but it does not guarantee that every 20 mm strap will suit the case, bracelet end links or clasp. Check the strap’s attachment and intended fit before buying.

Launch, prices and conservation statement
Seiko announced a June 2021 launch for the two editions. Its German announcement listed original prices of €550 for the SRPG57K1 and €570 for the SRPG59K1. Those are historical German-market prices, not current quotations. Seiko’s Canadian SRPG57 page displays CAD 750; that is a market-specific listed price and may change.
Seiko said that part of Save the Ocean sales proceeds would go to an ocean-protection organization. The inspected announcement does not name the recipient or state the amount, so it does not establish a quantified donation or conservation impact for an individual purchase. Current stock and third-party prices are also not established here; confirm availability, seller, condition, warranty and regional variant with the retailer.
