The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Motoring is the solar-powered, cream-dial chronograph behind the “panda-dial” headline—not the separate, mechanical SRQ047. T3 reported in October 2025 that the Motoring was a 500-piece European-exclusive edition priced at £730 and available for pre-order. Those are historical launch details, not confirmation of today’s price, stock or remaining availability.
Which panda-dial Seiko is the Motoring?
The Speedtimer Motoring is a classic-car-inspired Prospex chronograph with a cream sunray dial, contrasting subdials and a perforated brown leather strap. T3’s October 2025 article describes it as solar-powered and reports that both a stainless-steel bracelet and leather strap were included. The Motoring is distinct from Seiko’s SRQ047/SRQ047J1, a mechanical Speedtimer reinterpretation of a 1972 design.
That distinction matters when comparing price or specifications: information published for the SRQ047 does not establish the Motoring’s dimensions, strap compatibility or current price.
What the launch report says about price and scarcity
T3 reported a £730 price, a 500-piece production run and European exclusivity when its article appeared on 1 October 2025. It also said pre-orders were available at that time. The report does not establish whether the watch is still in production, what it costs now, or whether any retailer has stock on 3 October 2026. A limited production number is not proof that a particular seller has one available—or that buying it now is a good value.

No independent market or resale data is established here to substantiate a value judgment. Assess a current offer against its actual price, condition, seller and included items rather than treating the launch price or edition size as a measure of today’s value.

| Detail | Motoring information reported by T3 |
|---|---|
| Movement | Seiko V192 solar movement |
| Accuracy | ±15 seconds per month |
| Power reserve | Up to six months in darkness after a full charge |
| Charging | Natural or artificial light |

| Case dimensions and lug width | Not stated in the cited Motoring report |
The six-month reserve is a reported claim, not a promise that every watch will run for that long regardless of charge level or use. The cited report does not provide Motoring dimensions, so wrist fit and replacement-strap sizing need confirmation against the exact product reference.

The SRQ047/SRQ047J1 is a separate watch, not another name for the Motoring. Seiko describes the SRQ047 as drawing design cues from its 1972 Speedtimer; its 2023 press release identifies a mechanical 8R48 movement with a column wheel and vertical clutch. Seiko’s official UK store lists the SRQ047J1 at £2,420 and specifies a 42 mm case, 14.6 mm thickness, 20 mm lug width, 45-hour power reserve, 10 bar water resistance and dual-curved sapphire crystal. These details apply to the SRQ047J1 only.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
At its 2023 release, Seiko gave the SRQ047 a European recommended retail price of €2,700 and noted that prices and specifications could change. That launch figure and the UK store’s listing are not comparable current pricing for the solar Motoring: they concern a different model, movement and price tier.

What to check before buying a Motoring
- Confirm the exact model. Make sure the listing names the Prospex Speedtimer Motoring rather than SRQ047 or another Speedtimer.
- Verify the live offer. Check the seller’s current stock, final price, return terms and whether the seller is authorized. The 2025 pre-order report does not verify a present listing.
- Confirm what is included. T3 reported both bracelet and leather strap; ask the seller to confirm the contents of the specific watch being offered.
- Check fit details. Get the Motoring’s case dimensions and lug width from its exact reference or seller before judging wrist fit or ordering another strap. SRQ047J1’s 20 mm lug width cannot be assumed for the Motoring.
- Choose the movement you want. The Motoring’s reported solar operation prioritizes light-powered convenience; the SRQ047 is a mechanical chronograph. They are not interchangeable versions of the same specification.
