The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer SSC963’s defining change from the SSC813 is its pale-pink dial: the SSC813 has a white panda-style dial, while both pair their dial color with black subdials. Seiko’s listed specifications show the same V192 solar chronograph movement, case dimensions, crystal, water resistance and functions. Choose between them mainly by dial color and the current price and availability in your region—not on the assumption that the SSC963 is a mechanical upgrade.
What changed between the SSC963 and SSC813?
Dial color and finish
Seiko lists the SSC813 with a white dial and the SSC963 with a pink dial. Seiko USA describes the SSC963’s shade as light pink, with high-contrast black subdials and a black tachymeter bezel. Seiko also describes the SSC963 dial as having an applied sandblast finish. The pink-and-black combination is the main visual distinction; it does not, by itself, indicate different chronograph performance. Seiko’s SSC963 US product page and Seiko’s SSC813 UK boutique listing provide the official color descriptions.

Seiko’s boutique description says the SSC963’s pale pink takes inspiration from sports cars of the 1980s and 1990s, and describes the model as based on the SSC813. That is design context, not a technical difference. Seiko Boutique’s SSC963 listing

The official specifications reviewed do not establish a movement, accuracy or capability upgrade in the SSC963. An independent comparison published August 27, 2026 likewise reports the main specifications as shared and identifies dial pigmentation and finishing as the primary differences. Its observations about how surface gloss and subdial color look in person are reviewer impressions, not manufacturer measurements. Fratello’s side-by-side comparison

Choose the SSC813 for white and black
The SSC813 is the straightforward choice if you want the familiar monochrome panda-style look. Its white dial preserves the black-and-white contrast without the SSC963’s pink hue.

Choose the SSC963 for pale pink and black
Choose the SSC963 if you prefer its pale-pink dial. Seiko describes that dial as sandblast-finished, with black subdials designed for contrast; its appeal is a color and finish preference rather than a documented performance gain.

Can you use the same 20 mm strap?
Both official listings state a 20 mm lug width, so both share that basic strap-width measurement. Width alone does not guarantee that every strap or bracelet will fit the case or have compatible end links; check the specific accessory’s fit and end-link design before ordering.
