They mark 110 years since the company’s first wristwatch, the Laurel, and pair four Japanese dial crafts with two different display layouts: the first two use a triple-retrograde display, while the latter two show the date and power reserve. Their reported launch specifications also distinguish them by case size, movement and limited production quantity.
What are the four Presage Craftsmanship models?
The quartet was presented in 2023 in the context of Seiko’s 110th watchmaking anniversary. The dial craft is the clearest way to tell the references apart: SPB393 uses white enamel, SPB395 uses reddish-brown urushi lacquer, SPB397 has ivory-white Arita porcelain, and SPB399 features blue shippō enamel. Seiko describes Presage Craftsmanship as bringing traditional Japanese decorative arts together with mechanical watchmaking; the model-specific descriptions and figures below were reported by Fratello in June 2023.

How the dial crafts differ
SPB393: white enamel
SPB393’s white dial has blued hands. Fratello describes it as finished with a thin enamel coat, giving the watch a light, restrained look that contrasts with the more saturated colors elsewhere in the group.

SPB395: reddish-brown urushi lacquer
SPB395 uses urushi lacquer in a reddish-brown palette inspired by Kanazawa, with white and gold accents. Its warmer dial distinguishes it from the white enamel SPB393, even though both share the same case dimensions, 6R24 movement and triple-retrograde layout.
SPB397: ivory-white Arita porcelain
SPB397’s dial is made from Arita porcelain and is described as ivory-white, with black hands and gold accents. It moves away from the retrograde configuration to a date and power-reserve display.
SPB399: blue shippō enamel
SPB399 has a blue shippō enamel dial with white hands and gold accents. Fratello describes its layered enamel as polished to reveal a wave pattern. Of the four references, it has the smallest reported production run: 800 pieces.

SPB393 and SPB395 share the triple-retrograde display, which sets them apart from the more conventional date-and-power-reserve arrangement on SPB397 and SPB399. The layout is linked to a movement split: the retrograde pair use caliber 6R24, while the other pair use caliber 6R27.
At launch, Fratello reported a 40.2 mm diameter and 12.8 mm thickness for the 6R24 models. The 6R27 references were reported at 40.6 mm by 14.1 mm. That makes the latter pair slightly wider and thicker on paper; the figures alone do not establish how either profile will wear on an individual wrist.
Fratello reported both calibers at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and a 45-hour power reserve. Those are the reported specifications for this 2023 quartet, not the 72-hour reserve sometimes associated with other Presage releases.
Straps, launch quantities and historical prices
Fratello reported that all four watches came on leather straps in colors chosen to complement their dials, with folding deployant clasps. The article also said the leather came from Leather Working Group-certified tanneries.
The launch-era quantities were 1,500 pieces each for SPB393, SPB395 and SPB397, and 800 for SPB399. Fratello’s reported euro launch prices were €1,650 for SPB393, €2,000 for SPB395 and SPB397, and €2,250 for SPB399. These figures describe the 2023 launch reporting only; they do not establish current availability or market value.

Similar Presage Craftsmanship headlines can refer to different watches. Seiko’s September 12, 2023 announcement covered SPB403, SPB405 and SPB407—not this anniversary quartet. That separate trio uses caliber 6R55 and is specified by Seiko with a 72-hour power reserve, 40.2 mm cases, sapphire crystal and 10-bar water resistance. Those details should not be assigned to SPB393, SPB395, SPB397 or SPB399.
A later announcement is distinct as well: Seiko’s June 18, 2026 Tomioka-silk Presage Classic Series release introduced references HCC001, HCC002, HCC003 and HCC008. It is a different quartet in a different series, not a continuation of the 2023 anniversary group.
