Seiko’s 2024 “Incredibly Specialized Watches” exhibition presented seven concept designs, not a product collection: Seiko said the watches were not for sale. The exhibition has ended, but the panda-loving concept later inspired two reported production chronographs, HHK001 and HHK002—distinct watches rather than the original exhibition piece.
What was Seiko’s “Incredibly Specialized” watch exhibition?
Seiko Watch Corporation’s Power Design Project 2024 invited in-house designers to explore the essence and future of watches outside their usual work. Its theme was “incredibly specialized watches,” with seven designers presenting seven distinct approaches. The project was a design exhibition, not a product launch.
The exhibition ran from January 19 to March 31, 2024, at Seiko Seed, WITH HARAJUKU 1F, Jingumae, Shibuya, Tokyo. Admission was free, but the event is over. Seiko’s official exhibition page states that the watches were not for sale.
What were the seven Seiko concept watches?
Seiko’s official English exhibition page names and illustrates these designs:
#1 Best Overall
- Case diameter: 43.5mm
- Gold tone second hand
- Water Resistant To 165 Feet
- Power reserve: approximately 41 hours
- 21,600 vibrations per hour
- Hide-and-seek
- Patternmaker
- Sukiyaki
- Panda lovers
- Masking tape enthusiasts
- Sunny men
- Ambidextrous
The labels suggest the designers’ specialized audiences or interests, but Seiko’s accessible page does not give detailed written descriptions for each concept. Beyond the panda design, there is not enough published detail here to reliably explain what each watch looked like or did.
Can you buy any of the exhibition watches?
No. The seven original exhibition watches were not offered for sale, and the exhibition has ended. The important exception is not an original concept becoming available unchanged: a later production interpretation of the panda-loving idea was reported in 2026.

On October 5, 2026, Hodinkee reported that Seiko had developed two limited-edition chronographs inspired by the panda-loving concept. The report described a planned November 2026 release; that timing is not confirmation that the watches are currently in stock in any particular market.

How the reported production watches differ
Hodinkee described HHK001 and HHK002 as 43 mm stainless-steel quartz chronographs powered by Seiko caliber 8T61, with a thickness of 14.6 mm, splash resistance, and cowhide straps. Their panda motif uses the subdials as eyes and the chronograph pushers as ears, while the hands reference bamboo leaves. These details describe the production versions; they should not be assumed to match every feature of the exhibition prototype.
