Start by identifying the exact Submariner reference. The clearest current benchmark is the no-date Oystersteel Submariner 124060; its specifications and the available price estimate do not apply automatically to a Submariner Date or a model in another material. Then compare the watch’s condition, service evidence, protections, warranty and total price—not just its box or papers.
Identify the exact Submariner before comparing prices
“Modern Submariner” covers watches with different references, date displays and materials. For a like-for-like comparison, match the reference and configuration first. Rolex’s current no-date Submariner is the 41 mm Oystersteel reference 124060. Its published specifications include a black Cerachrom bezel, calibre 3230, an approximately 70-hour power reserve, 300 m water resistance and an Oyster bracelet with Glidelock. See Rolex’s specifications for the 124060.
Those details describe the 124060, not every modern Submariner. If you want a date display or a different material, identify that watch’s exact reference and compare it with the same configuration. The price reference below is for the 124060 only; it is not a basis for estimating another variant.
Choose between Rolex Certified Pre-Owned and another seller
Rolex Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) is a specific purchase route, not a general label for any second-hand Rolex. Rolex says CPO watches are at least two years old, offered through participating Official Rolex Retailers, authenticated and fully serviced, and covered by a new two-year international guarantee. Availability depends on the participating outlet and its local inventory. Read Rolex’s CPO program terms.

| What to compare | Rolex Certified Pre-Owned | Other pre-owned offer |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication | Rolex says CPO watches are authenticated through its workshops and that the program guarantees authenticity. | There is no single standard established here for other sellers. Check the seller’s process and protections; do not assume they are equivalent to Rolex CPO. |
| Service and condition | Rolex says each CPO watch is fully serviced and examined under its after-sales checks. | Ask what service was done, who performed it, when it took place and whether documentation is provided. |
| Guarantee | Two-year international guarantee from the CPO purchase date. | Review the seller’s written warranty and terms. Do not assume a Rolex guarantee transfers or remains valid. |
| Availability | Only at participating authorized points of sale; local selection varies. | Inventory and buyer protections depend on the seller and marketplace. |
| Price | Compare the actual asking price with offers for the same reference and configuration. No universal CPO premium is established here. | Use the dated estimate below only for orientation, then account for reference, condition and protections. |
What the 124060 price reference can—and cannot—tell you
WatchCharts estimated the pre-owned price of a Rolex Submariner 124060 at $12,313 as of September 29, 2026. The same source listed a $10,050 retail price as of September 2026. These are WatchCharts figures, not Rolex-issued prices. The pre-owned estimate is not a guaranteed value, a quote for a particular watch or proof of what buyers paid in completed transactions. Check the WatchCharts 124060 page for its reference and date.
Use those figures as a dated point of reference, not a price target. Compare current offers for the identical reference, and weigh condition, documented service, included items, seller protections and warranty. The figures do not establish a CPO-specific premium, nor do they support an estimate for a Submariner Date or a different material.

Rolex CPO authentication
Rolex states, “Only Rolex can confirm the authenticity of a Rolex watch.” The brand describes its CPO process as checking the original configuration, disassembling the watch, inspecting components, then servicing and testing it in Rolex workshops. These are Rolex’s descriptions of its own program. Read Rolex’s certification-process description.
Buying outside CPO
For a non-CPO watch, verify the seller’s identity and written terms, and consider an appropriate inspection by a qualified watchmaker or an official Rolex channel. Photographs, serial details, a box, papers or a seller’s guarantee should not be treated on their own as conclusive proof of authenticity.
Do not confuse the two Rolex guarantees
Rolex’s five-year new-watch guarantee is conditional: Rolex says it applies to qualifying watches sold by an Official Rolex Retailer with the guarantee card properly completed and presented. It also excludes watches materially modified using non-genuine parts. That is separate from the CPO program’s two-year international guarantee. A guarantee card alone does not establish that a current Rolex guarantee applies. Check Rolex’s guarantee conditions.
Quick Recap
A practical comparison before you buy
- Match the reference and configuration. Confirm whether the watch is a 124060 or another reference, and compare date display and material like for like.
- Read the condition and service evidence. For a non-CPO offer, ask what work was done, who performed it, when, and what documentation is available.
- Check the protections in writing. Review authentication arrangements, return terms and the exact warranty, including who provides it and when it begins.
- Compare the total asking price. Use the dated WatchCharts estimate only as context for a 124060; do not infer a value for another reference or treat the estimate as a completed-sale price.
- Confirm the purchase channel. If buying CPO, verify that the outlet participates in Rolex’s program. For any other seller, assess that seller’s identity and stated terms rather than assuming Rolex has certified the watch.
