Sightful Spacetop: What Its “100-Inch” AR Workspace Really Means

Sightful’s Spacetop uses AR glasses for a private virtual desktop, but its current Windows product differs from the screenless Spacetop G1—and the 100-inch figure is an equivalence, not a physical screen.

The “AR laptop” is Sightful’s Spacetop: a system that puts a private, spatial desktop in AR glasses instead of showing it on a conventional laptop display. The headline’s 100 inches describes an equivalent virtual workspace, not a giant physical screen. The product has also changed: the original Spacetop G1 was a dedicated screenless laptop, while Sightful’s current offering, as of August 18, 2026, pairs its software with a compatible Windows laptop and XREAL One Pro glasses.

What is the AR laptop?

Spacetop replaces the usual laptop display with glasses. You look through the glasses to see virtual windows; you type on a physical keyboard and use a trackpad to move the cursor and manage the workspace. The glasses connect to the computer, so this is still a tethered setup rather than a standalone laptop or wireless room-scale headset.

There are two distinct products behind the name. The original Spacetop G1 was a complete screenless laptop with its own keyboard, trackpad, processor and battery. The current Spacetop for Windows is software for a compatible Windows laptop, used with XREAL One Pro glasses. Treating the G1 as Sightful’s only current product misses that shift.

How Spacetop changed from the G1 to Windows

The original Spacetop G1

The G1 was a dedicated computer whose glasses supplied the display. It ran Sightful OS, based on the Android Open Source Project, rather than Windows or macOS. Early versions were web-first: contemporary hands-on coverage described services such as Discord and Spotify as web bookmarks rather than native applications. Later coverage reported support for services including Microsoft 365, Slack, Figma, Zoom and Google Workspace. The system’s application limits therefore depend in part on which G1 software version is being discussed.

Coverage of the G1 reported glasses with 1,920 × 1,080 pixels per eye, a 90Hz refresh rate, about 50 degrees of diagonal field of view and roughly 42 pixels per degree. Product coverage put its weight at about 3.3 pounds and its claimed battery life at around five hours. Those are reported G1 figures, not specifications for the current Windows product. Hardware reporting also varied across early versions, so specifications from different G1 revisions should not be combined as if they described one configuration.

The G1 carried early-access pricing of about $2,000 and a reported preorder price of about $1,900. Those historical prices are not a guide to the current Spacetop buying model.

Spacetop for Windows

Sightful’s current product uses the buyer’s Windows laptop, Sightful software and XREAL One Pro glasses. Sightful says common Windows and web-based business applications work, listing Outlook, Word, Excel, Chrome, Edge, Gmail, Google Docs, Slack, Zoom and Google Meet, as well as YouTube and Netflix. That is not a guarantee that every Windows program behaves equally well in floating windows. Sightful says it is still improving support for demanding workloads such as video editing; GPU-heavy creative work, 3D CAD and games should not be assumed to perform like they would on a purpose-built workstation or gaming display.

Sightful currently identifies XREAL One Pro as the compatible glasses model and says broader compatibility is planned. Do not assume other XREAL models or glasses from VITURE, RayNeo or another maker will run Spacetop. See Sightful’s product page for its current compatibility statement.

What the 100-inch virtual workspace means

Sightful’s 100-inch claim is an equivalent workspace-size comparison. The glasses use small displays to present windows that appear to float in front of the wearer. It is not a 100-inch panel, and it does not mean people nearby can see a television-sized image.

Nor does a broad workspace fit entirely in the wearer’s direct view. Sightful lists the XREAL One Pro glasses at 1,920 × 1,080 pixels per eye, a 57-degree diagonal field of view, 39 pixels per degree, brightness up to 600 nits and a weight of 87 grams. A field of view is the portion of the scene visible through the glasses; windows placed toward the edges may require head movement. Reviewers of the older G1 similarly noted that users had to turn their heads to inspect parts of its virtual workspace.

Resolution, pixel density, fit, ambient light and window placement all affect how readable a virtual desktop feels. If small text is uncomfortable, increase application scaling, move primary windows nearer the center of view and adjust the glasses’ fit. Prescription inserts may help users who need correction, but Sightful’s public pages show different insert prices, so check the amount shown at checkout.

How you control the virtual desktop

Spacetop remains keyboard-and-trackpad computing: the keyboard handles typing and shortcuts, while the trackpad controls the cursor and window navigation. The original G1’s hands-on coverage described gestures such as three-finger zooming and keyboard shortcuts to re-center the workspace. Sightful’s public pages describe window management and travel or motion modes for the current platform, but do not provide a complete current shortcut reference. Check the software’s own instructions for exact gestures and shortcut names rather than relying on G1-era controls.

Motion mode is intended for use in moving settings such as planes, trains and vehicles. It may help manage the workspace while travelling, but should not be treated as a guarantee against discomfort. If the image feels disorienting, stop using the glasses.

Check laptop compatibility before buying

Sightful’s published requirements call for Windows 11 version 24H2 or newer, at least 16GB of RAM, a supported processor and a video-capable connection to the glasses. Its processor guidance includes Intel Core i7 or i9 chips from the 12th generation or newer and listed Core Ultra families; Sightful also says it has validated systems using Intel Meteor Lake and Lunar Lake and Qualcomm Snapdragon platforms. Because processor support is configuration-specific, verify the exact laptop rather than relying on the brand name alone.

The connection is a common source of confusion: USB-C is not enough by itself. The port must support DisplayPort Alt Mode so it can send video. Sightful lists Thunderbolt 3 and Thunderbolt 4 as compatible. A USB-C port that charges devices but does not carry video will not meet that requirement.

Compatibility checklist

  • Confirm that the laptop runs Windows 11 version 24H2 or newer.
  • Check for at least 16GB of RAM and a processor configuration Sightful supports.
  • Verify that the specific USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, or use a compatible Thunderbolt 3 or 4 port.
  • Confirm you have XREAL One Pro glasses; Sightful currently names this model as supported.
  • Ask your employer’s IT team about installation, device-management and security restrictions before using a work laptop.
  • For an expensive or business purchase, use Sightful’s compatibility verification before committing.

Sightful does not currently list a Mac version as available. Mac support is planned, but Sightful does not currently list a Mac version as available.

What it costs—and why the price depends on the offer

Sightful’s pricing page, checked August 18, 2026, lists software at $27 per seat per month, billed annually, with a five-seat minimum, plus a one-time $699 glasses hardware fee. The same date’s homepage displays “Just $899” and advertises 15-day returns, but it does not present that number in the same way as the per-seat annual pricing page. These are different public price signals, not enough to conclude that every buyer can obtain the same bundle or terms. Confirm what the offer includes, the billing commitment, eligibility, return terms and final checkout total before purchase. See Sightful’s pricing page and its homepage.

The current model requires a compatible laptop in addition to the glasses and software, so compare the full cost with alternatives rather than relying on the G1’s historical launch price. Sightful’s public pages also differ on optional prescription inserts: the product page lists $79 for single-vision and $179 for progressive lenses, while the pricing-page FAQ gives a different $50 figure. Verify the lens type and price at checkout.

Where Spacetop’s privacy helps—and where it does not

The virtual windows are visible to the wearer, not to someone looking over their shoulder. That can be useful on a plane, train, in a coffee shop or in a shared office. Sightful describes the setup as visual data-loss prevention because there is no ordinary laptop screen for bystanders to read; the original G1 also drew attention for this privacy advantage.

That is visual privacy, not a complete security solution. Nearby people can still see the glasses, keyboard, hands and physical documents. Audio from open-ear speakers may be audible, so headphones are more discreet for calls or sensitive material. Account security, cloud storage, screen recording, malware and employer monitoring are separate concerns.

Trade-offs to weigh before choosing it

Field of view and visual comfort

A large virtual workspace can extend beyond the area visible at once. Users may need to turn their heads to reach peripheral windows, and some people may experience eye strain, headaches, focusing difficulty or motion discomfort. Comfort depends on fit, prescription needs, brightness, head movement and individual tolerance; Sightful’s positioning of lightweight glasses for extended work is not a guarantee of all-day comfort. Try the glasses in person or buy with a clear return policy, and take breaks.

Cable and sharing

The G1’s glasses were hardwired to the computer, and reviewers noted that cable damage could remove the primary display unless an external monitor was available. The current setup also requires a physical connection between laptop and glasses, so cable management still matters. The private workspace is not a shared screen: presentations or collaborative work with someone beside you may require a conventional external display.

Performance, battery and camera

The current Windows setup inherits the laptop’s performance, thermals, ports and battery behavior. Do not apply the G1’s reported five-hour battery claim to a bring-your-own-laptop system. The G1’s mobile-oriented Qualcomm hardware was not positioned as a gaming or high-performance workstation, while current performance depends on the laptop selected.

The original G1 also drew criticism for webcam placement that could frame a user from below when the machine sat on a lap or desk. With Spacetop for Windows, the webcam belongs to the buyer’s laptop, so camera quality and framing vary by model.

Who should consider Spacetop?

Spacetop makes the most sense for a Windows professional who already owns a compatible laptop, travels often, works across several windows and values a private display enough to accept glasses, a cable and software costs. It is a more specialized proposition than simply adding screen area to a desk.

A portable monitor is usually the simpler choice if other people need to see the screen, glasses are unwelcome, compatibility is uncertain or the main goal is affordable extra display space. A standalone pair of display glasses may suit someone who wants a private screen for a laptop, phone or handheld without Sightful’s workspace software. A mixed-reality headset is a better fit for immersive 3D environments, hand tracking or VR applications than for ordinary keyboard-centric work.

Spacetop alternatives and price context

Prices below were shown on the cited vendor pages on August 18, 2026, and may change. Sale and reference prices are identified where the vendor displayed both; check the final regional checkout price. These products are not all Spacetop substitutes: the glasses are separate display ecosystems, while a portable monitor is a conventional shared screen.

Consumers comparing a different glasses ecosystem for entertainment, handheld gaming and virtual-screen use. Do not assume VITURE glasses work with Sightful Spacetop.

Common setup problems

The glasses show no image

A USB-C port may provide charging without DisplayPort Alt Mode video. Check the laptop manufacturer’s specifications or test the port with a USB-C monitor; Thunderbolt 3 or 4 is listed by Sightful as compatible.

Software will not install or launch

Windows 10, an older Windows 11 build, macOS or an employer-restricted image may be the obstacle. Check the operating-system requirement and, for managed laptops, involve IT before buying. Sightful’s pricing page references enterprise deployment support such as Microsoft Intune and SSO.

Text looks too small or uncomfortable

Increase application scaling, center the windows you use most, adjust the nose pads and fit, and use appropriate prescription correction. If readability remains poor, use the return window rather than assuming the virtual image will feel like a high-resolution physical monitor.

Movement makes the workspace uncomfortable

Try the available travel or motion mode, keep the workspace centered and reduce unnecessary window movement. Stop using the glasses if discomfort persists; motion mode does not guarantee that every user will feel comfortable.
