If you mainly want fitness data and a long battery life, the cheaper Amazfit Bip 6 or Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro may be better value.
What counts as a budget smartwatch in 2026?
“Budget smartwatch” covers several very different products. Price alone does not tell you what a watch can replace.

The key distinction is between a fitness-focused watch with smart features and a true app-based smartwatch. The Amazfit Active 2 is excellent in the first category, but it does not provide the platform depth of an Apple Watch or Wear OS model.

Why the Amazfit Active 2 stands out
A watch-like design and bright display
The Active 2 looks more like a conventional round watch than a rectangular fitness band. Its AMOLED display is a major advantage at this price, making notifications, workout screens and everyday timekeeping easier to read than on many low-cost trackers.
Broad activity tracking
It is built for general wellness and workouts, with activity, sleep and heart-rate trends alongside a large selection of sport modes. Those measurements are useful for spotting patterns, not diagnosing illness. Fit, wrist position, motion, skin contact, firmware and exercise intensity can all affect readings.
GPS and calls, with important qualifications
Check the exact Active 2 version before buying to confirm whether positioning is built in or phone-assisted. A GPS label does not guarantee sports-watch accuracy, particularly in dense urban areas. Bluetooth calling also requires the phone to remain nearby and connected; it is not standalone cellular calling.

Battery is the central value proposition
Amazfit’s multi-day battery approach is more convenient than the daily or near-daily charging commonly associated with Apple Watch and Wear OS. “Up to” figures are controlled-condition claims, however. Always-on display use, GPS, calls, frequent notifications, continuous sensors, brightness and a poor Bluetooth connection can reduce runtime substantially.
Zepp is the center of the experience
Setup, synchronization, data review and feature management run through the Zepp companion app. The Active 2 works with iPhone and Android, but pairing is not the same as feature parity. iPhone notification actions, message replies, health-data sharing and background synchronization can be more restricted than on Android. Most budget watches also require a brand account, smartphone app, Bluetooth and notification permissions, plus health and location access. Consider where your data will live—Zepp, Apple Health, Fitbit, Samsung Health, Garmin Connect or Xiaomi’s ecosystem—before committing, because historical data may not transfer cleanly between brands.

Alternatives by phone and priority
Apple Watch SE 3 for iPhone owners
Choose the Apple Watch SE 3 when messaging, Apple services, safety tools and app support matter more than battery life. It is iPhone-only, costs more than most proprietary watches and normally needs daily or near-daily charging. Cellular models add hardware and carrier-plan costs. Fitbit for familiar health tracking
Fitbit remains attractive to people already invested in its app and sleep-focused data. The Charge 6 is an older product, and newer low-cost Fitbit options should be compared carefully for current hardware and subscription requirements. (WIRED)
Garmin for training rather than apps
Garmin is worth the extra money for running, cycling, structured workouts and sports data. It is less compelling when inexpensive calls, rich notifications and broad third-party apps are the priority.
