Compare the exact reference and its crystal, case back, strap or bracelet, thickness, and local price before choosing.
What the Sinn 356 PILOT Classic is
Sinn’s October 2024 product sheet calls it “The classic chronograph with acrylic glass.” The sheet specifies a 38.5 mm case diameter, 15.5 mm thickness, 20 mm lug width and a weight of 71 g without a strap. Sinn’s 2025–2026 catalogue lists 10 bar water resistance for the 356 PILOT series.
The family catalogue describes a bead-blasted stainless-steel case, shock-proof acrylic glass and a solid case back. These are the defining construction details for the catalogue’s Classic section; check the individual reference if you are considering another 356 variant rather than assuming every version has the same arrangement.
Which dial version should you choose?
356 PILOT Classic AS E
Sinn’s 2025–2026 catalogue describes the AS E’s matt-silk dial as a gradient from anthracite to black. Choose it if you want a dark dial with more variation than a uniform black face.

356 PILOT Classic W
The Classic W has a matt-silk white dial. Its light background gives the watch a visibly different look from the AS E; compare both in person or in clear reference-specific photographs if dial contrast is a deciding factor.
Standard black-dial 356 PILOT
Sinn’s catalogue also shows a black-dial 356 PILOT. Do not treat it as interchangeable with the Classic AS E or W simply because all belong to the 356 family: verify the precise model name and reference, then confirm its crystal, case back and available configurations.

What to check before buying
- Exact reference and dial: confirm whether the listing is for the Classic AS E, Classic W, or standard black-dial 356 PILOT.
- Crystal and case back: the Classic section is described with shock-proof acrylic glass and a solid case back. Confirm the actual configuration for the specific watch on offer.
- Thickness and fit: the October 2024 sheet gives a 15.5 mm thickness and 38.5 mm diameter. Case diameter alone does not establish how the watch will sit on your wrist, so check the stated dimensions and try it on if possible.
- Strap or bracelet: Sinn lists leather, silicone and solid-bracelet configurations. The October 2024 sheet gives a 20 mm lug width for the standard 356, but verify fit and end-link compatibility for the exact reference before ordering a replacement.
- Price and warranty: compare the seller’s current local quote and terms. Sinn’s October 2024 product sheet stated a two-year warranty; confirm the warranty applicable to the watch and point of sale you are considering.
Straps, operation and ownership
Sinn’s official manual covers chronograph operation and instructions for assembling or adjusting straps. Consult the manual for the watch and strap type in hand rather than relying on a generic strap-fitting assumption.
Sinn’s January 2026 anniversary material describes a 20 mm nubuck boar-leather strap made from Hessian wild-boar leather, tanned in Hesse, with final production in Rhineland-Palatinate. Those origin and material details apply to the anniversary strap; they should not be assumed for standard 356 straps. The anniversary kit depicts a strap-replacement tool and spare spring bars, but that does not establish that those accessories come with other 356 models.

Sinn’s October 2024 sheet listed prices including tax from €2,050 with leather, €2,050 with silicone, and €2,275 with a solid bracelet. These are figures printed in that dated document, not verified current prices or a promise of availability in any particular country. Check the current quote, tax treatment, stock and included configuration with a local seller.
