The Sinn EZM 13.1 is a 41 mm mechanical diving chronograph built around an unusually practical timing display: its SZ02 movement drives a 60-minute stopwatch counter at six o’clock, rather than the more familiar 30-minute register. Sinn also specifies 500 m / 50 bar pressure resistance and says DNV certifies the watch against relevant diving-equipment requirements. Those are manufacturer-stated specifications and certification claims, not results of hands-on testing for this review.
What the EZM 13.1 is designed to do
Sinn calls the EZM 13.1 a “diving chronograph with 60-minute stopwatch display.” Its mission-timer styling puts elapsed time at the center of the dial, with the chronograph’s minute register at six o’clock. The watch uses the Sinn SZ02 mechanical chronograph movement, a bead-blasted stainless-steel case, sapphire crystal, and a captive diver’s bezel with minute ratcheting, according to the official model sheet.
The defining choice is the minute counter. Many chronographs use a 30-minute register; the EZM 13.1 instead displays a full 60 minutes in one register. Sinn says this allows elapsed minutes to be read directly across the hour. The layout is a clear point of distinction on the specification sheet, though actual reading speed and clarity in use have not been independently evaluated here.

How the 60-minute counter changes the dial
The counter at six o’clock is the EZM 13.1’s most consequential design decision. A full-hour register avoids mentally combining multiple revolutions of a 30-minute counter when timing an interval longer than half an hour. Sinn describes the larger elapsed-minute display as a legibility choice. It also says it omitted Arabic numerals to simplify the dial. These are the manufacturer’s stated rationales, not independently measured usability improvements; the dial’s clarity in real conditions would require hands-on assessment.

Case controls and diving claims
Left-side controls
The crown and chronograph pushers sit on the left side of the case. Sinn says the arrangement is intended to prevent pressure on the back of the hand. That purpose is distinct from a claim about fit: the available specifications establish the control placement, but not whether the case feels comfortable on a particular wrist.
Pressure resistance and certification
Sinn specifies water and pressure resistance to a diving depth of 500 m (50 bar) and says DNV certifies the watch’s pressure resistance. The company also states that DNV certification covers temperature resistance and function based on EN 250 and EN 14143, which Sinn describes as European standards for diving equipment. These are Sinn’s published certification statements; they should not be read as an independent test conducted for this review or as a recommendation to use the watch at a particular dive depth. Details appear in the Sinn technical documentation.

Environmental technologies
Sinn lists magnetic-field protection up to 100 mT (80,000 A/m), functional reliability from −45°C to 80°C, and Ar-Dehumidifying Technology. These specifications position the watch for demanding operating conditions on paper. They do not, by themselves, establish the result of an independent test in a particular environment.
Strap and bracelet presentations
Sinn’s model sheet illustrates three presentations: a black silicone strap, an embossed cowhide strap with contrasting stitching, and an expandable satinised stainless-steel bracelet with folding safety clasp. The sheet documents those configurations, but does not establish that every option is currently offered in every market.

What this review can—and cannot—assess
The documented specifications make the EZM 13.1’s priorities easy to identify: a full-hour chronograph register, left-side controls, and a stated set of diving and environmental protections. The evidence available here does not include firsthand wrist time or testing of diving performance, chronograph operation, timing accuracy, bezel action, or lume. Those qualities should not be inferred from the specification sheet.
Current price, stock, regional availability, and retailer authorization have not been verified, so a reliable value judgment or buying recommendation would depend on checking the exact configuration and market. Sinn’s sheet also does not establish the watch’s subjective comfort or an independently measured legibility advantage.
