Six discontinued watches stand out for different reasons: the original A. Lange & Söhne Datograph for its proportions, the Heuer Camaro for its compact chronograph character, the Nodus Trieste for its vintage diver styling, the Oris Divers Sixty-Five in 36mm for a smaller retro option, the Rolex Milgauss for its eccentric design, and the Seiko SKX007/SKX009 for its dive-watch specifications. These are wishes, not reported revival plans. Cait Bazemore made the case for them in a Worn & Wound feature published October 2, 2026; the details below are attributed to that article, not presented as independently verified current catalog information. Read the feature.
Why these six watches merit another look
The appeal is not simply nostalgia. Each watch offers a design or use-case distinction that can be harder to find in a brand’s later lineup: a smaller case, a particular chronograph layout, a vintage-inspired diver, an unusually playful design, or a more fully specified tool watch. Bazemore’s preferences are editorial judgments; the feature does not report a reader poll, brand interviews, or plans to revive any of the models.
A. Lange & Söhne Datograph: the original’s proportions
Bazemore dates the original Datograph to 1999 and says its chronograph caliber was designed from the ground up rather than adapted from a base movement. The feature contrasts it with the Up/Down version introduced in 2012:
| Version | Case size | Power reserve | Dial distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Original Datograph | 39mm | 36 hours | Cleaner dial, without the Up/Down power-reserve indicator |
| Datograph Up/Down | 41mm | 60 hours | Power-reserve indicator at six o’clock |
The Up/Down offers a longer stated reserve and adds an indicator, but Bazemore would bring back the original because she prefers its smaller, more versatile proportions and cleaner dial. The dates and specifications here are those reported by the feature.

Heuer Camaro: a compact chronograph with its own character
The Worn & Wound feature places the Camaro’s catalog run between 1968 and 1972. It describes a manually wound chronograph with a cushion-shaped case and a softer, more subtle personality than the Carrera or Monaco. A modern re-edition could give TAG Heuer a distinct shape and character rather than another variation on those better-known lines. Bazemore calls it unlike the brand’s modern offerings; that is her assessment, not a brand statement.
Nodus Trieste: a vintage skin-diver look
Bazemore identifies the Trieste as Nodus’s first model, dating to 2017. The feature describes a 41mm stainless-steel diver with a black dial, luminous hour markers, a black unidirectional coin-edge bezel with luminous markings, and orange lettering as a contrasting accent. It says Nodus later moved on to its Sector collection. The case for a return is the Trieste’s vintage skin-diver styling and value proposition, rather than a claim that it outperforms the brand’s current watches.

Oris Divers Sixty-Five 36mm: a smaller retro option
According to the feature, the 36mm size joined the Divers Sixty-Five catalog in 2018 and disappeared “somewhere around 2023 or 2024” as the Divers Date arrived. Bazemore says the smallest size currently offered is 38mm, including the Cotton Candy subset; this is the feature’s account, not an independently checked statement of Oris’s catalog on the publication date. Her argument for bringing back 36mm is straightforward: it would provide a more compact, retro-styled choice in the range.
Rolex Milgauss: an uncommon streak of visual oddness
The Milgauss stands out in Bazemore’s list for its playful details, especially the lightning-bolt seconds hand and, on the later re-edition, green-tinted sapphire crystal. She would welcome a return that leaned even further into that unusual visual character. This is a design preference, not evidence of demand or a Rolex revival plan.

Seiko SKX007 and SKX009: a change in dive-watch proposition
The feature says the SKX series was replaced by Seiko 5 Sports and draws a technical distinction between them. In its account, the SKX is ISO-certified, rated to 200m water resistance, and has a screw-down crown. Seiko 5 Sports is described as rated to 100m, without a screw-down crown or dive certification.
That comparison is about specifications and intended proposition, not a blanket verdict that Seiko 5 Sports is an inferior watch. The feature’s point is that the replacement took a different direction: the SKX combined its familiar styling with the stated dive-watch features, while Seiko 5 Sports does not carry the same certification and crown arrangement. Bazemore also reports that the SKX historically retailed for under $350 and that comparable Seiko specifications now cost upwards of $500. Those price comparisons are the feature’s claims and lack independent verification here; they should not be read as current prices or guaranteed like-for-like equivalents.

What a comeback would mean
The six cases are distinct: restore the Datograph’s smaller original proportions, revisit the Camaro’s compact cushion case, revive the Trieste’s skin-diver styling, offer a 36mm Divers Sixty-Five again, let the Milgauss be conspicuously odd, or bring back the SKX’s combination of dive certification, 200m rating, and screw-down crown. The source is one author’s October 2, 2026 feature, so it establishes what she would like to see—not whether any watch is still absent from a brand’s live catalog today or whether a manufacturer intends to reissue it.
