The Straton Speciale is a 1970s-inspired automotive chronograph offered with either a Valjoux ETA7750 automatic movement and day/date display or a VK67 mecha-quartz movement without day/date. The quartz version is 2.9 mm thinner; both share a 42 mm steel case, 22 mm strap width and manufacturer-stated 10 ATM water resistance. Which one to choose depends on whether you want the automatic’s calendar and movement type or the thinner mecha-quartz configuration.
What is the Straton Speciale?
The Speciale is Straton Watch Company’s automotive-inspired chronograph, with an angular cushion or “TV” case and visual cues from the 1970s. Straton says its owner and designer, Kyle, drew inspiration from his 1977 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT; the etched caseback recreates that car’s tachometer. These are the brand’s accounts of the design, not independent verification of the inspiration.
An older Worn & Wound review also describes the Speciale as a bold 1970s-era automotive chronograph. Its reported count of 20 variations refers to the model at that time and should not be read as a current color or configuration count.
Automatic or mecha-quartz: what differs?
Straton lists two movement choices. The documented differences are movement type, calendar display and case thickness; the available information does not establish a performance or service-cost advantage for either version.

Case size, materials and water resistance
Straton lists a 42 mm case, 40.8 mm lug-to-lug measurement and 316L stainless steel with a DLC clear coat. The crystal is domed sapphire. At 15.9 mm, the automatic is thicker than the 13 mm mecha-quartz version; that difference may matter if you prefer a lower-profile watch, though case dimensions alone do not establish how a watch will fit your wrist.

Straton states that the Speciale is rated to 10 ATM/100 m and includes a 24-month warranty. These are manufacturer claims: check the current warranty terms and water-resistance guidance before purchase or use.
What strap size does it use?
The listed strap width is 22 mm, so “22 mm watch strap” is a reasonable size to search for. Width alone does not confirm that an aftermarket strap’s ends, attachment method or fit will work with the watch; verify those details with the seller or manufacturer before ordering.

Colors, price and ordering details
Straton’s 2024 new-colors page names Green & Gold, Black & Gold, Blue & Orange, Plum & Off White, and Sky Blue & Brown. It described the first run as 20 pieces per color. That was a manufacturer-reported limit for the 2024 run, not evidence of current stock or scarcity.
On October 7, 2026, Straton’s product page displayed a price of $1,299 and an option to receive an availability notification. The displayed figure should not be assumed to cover every selected variant or include shipping, taxes or duties. Confirm the exact movement and color on the live page before relying on a price or availability status.

As stated on the product page on October 7, 2026, Straton says orders ship by insured courier or express registered post; processing and shipment may take up to four working days, with delivery typically three to ten working days depending on location.
