The Stuckx Bull is a vintage-inspired bullhead chronograph: its crown and chronograph pushers sit at the top of the case, and its sloping dial is angled toward the wearer. It was offered with either a Seiko/TMI NE88 automatic mechanical chronograph or a VK-series meca-quartz movement. The column wheel and vertical clutch belong to the NE88 version—not the meca-quartz models. The available specifications and prices are from launch-era coverage and reviews; they do not establish current stock or market value.
What makes the Stuckx Bull a bullhead chronograph?
On a conventional chronograph, the crown and pushers are usually on the side of the case. The Bull moves them to the top, at roughly 12 o’clock, giving the watch its bullhead profile. Its wedge-shaped case slopes, with the dial angled upward. Fratello’s 2015 prototype coverage describes the arrangement as a way to make the dial easier to read when the wrist is held forward, a layout associated with racing-driver watches; that is a design rationale, not a universal ergonomic test result. The design is the same broad idea across the Bull range, but the movement and dial configuration vary. Coverage describes two- and three-register layouts, as well as a one-subdial mechanical configuration. Check the exact reference and dial rather than assuming every Bull has the same register arrangement.
Is the Stuckx Bull mechanical or quartz?
Both kinds were offered. The mechanical Bull uses the NE88 (also written NE-88) automatic chronograph. The VK version is meca-quartz: quartz regulates timekeeping, while the chronograph uses a mechanical action. These are distinct movement options, not different descriptions of the NE88.

| Version | Movement | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Mechanical | Seiko/TMI NE88 automatic chronograph | Column wheel and vertical clutch are reported for this version. Launch-era reporting gives 34 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, and a 45-hour power reserve. The Time Bum |
| Meca-quartz | VK-series meca-quartz | Quartz timekeeping with a mechanical chronograph action; it is not the NE88 automatic. |
What do the column wheel and vertical clutch do?
In the NE88 mechanical version, the column wheel coordinates the chronograph’s start, stop, and reset functions. The vertical clutch engages the chronograph with the movement’s drive. Fratello’s description notes that this clutch helps avoid a jump of the chronograph seconds hand when starting the timer. Those mechanisms describe the NE88 configuration; they should not be attributed to the VK meca-quartz version.
For historical context about the technology—not a claim that the Stuckx Bull was the first to use it—Seiko’s 9 August 2022 release says: “The original 1969 Speedtimer was the first chronograph in the world to incorporate both a vertical clutch and a column wheel.” Seiko
What are the reported dimensions and specifications?
Launch coverage from 2015 commonly reports a 42 mm case and a unidirectional ceramic bezel with 120 clicks. Other measurements differ by source and sample, so treat them as reported figures rather than a single guaranteed specification for every production watch.

| Bezel | Unidirectional ceramic, 120 clicks | Described in 2015 by Fratello and The Time Bum. |
Will a 22 mm strap fit?
Production-review coverage lists a 22 mm strap for the reviewed VK model, and Worn & Wound reports a 22 mm lug width. A 22 mm strap is therefore a reasonable starting point, but verify the lug width on the exact watch before ordering. Also check strap length and how its ends sit between the lugs; the case’s bullhead geometry can affect fit and comfort.

Published prices are historical launch figures, not current asking prices. Fratello’s 23 August 2015 article listed planned EU prices of €899 for the mechanical model and €350 for the meca-quartz model, with lower Kickstarter pledge pricing. Other launch-era coverage reported different figures, so these numbers should not be treated as a definitive price history for every variant. The sources cited here do not verify present-day inventory, current secondary-market prices, an active Kickstarter route, or an authorized service partner.
If you are assessing a specific used watch, confirm its movement, reference, dial layout, condition, included strap, and seller’s documentation. For service or water-resistance questions, seek a qualified watchmaker and request evidence relevant to that individual watch rather than relying on a launch-era specification.
