YEMA is a French watch brand with roots it dates to 1948, and its best-known Superman line spans much more than one vintage-style dive watch. The range includes several designs and two distinct movement approaches in the Superman Classics: a Swiss Made version with a Sellita SW-200 and a French Manufacture version with YEMA’s CMM.10. Whether a YEMA is worth buying depends on the specific reference, its movement and design, and the price in your market—not the brand name alone.
What kind of watchmaker is YEMA?
YEMA describes itself as a French watchmaker founded in 1948, with workshops in Morteau. The company says it has increased in-house production and works with French and Swiss partners located within 72 km of those workshops. Those are YEMA’s own descriptions of its history and manufacturing network; they do not establish what share of any particular watch is made in-house. YEMA also makes military relationships part of its history. It says it became an official French Navy partner in 2021 and describes a French Air & Space Force collaboration dating to the early 1970s. These company-stated relationships are useful context, but they are not evidence that every current YEMA watch is military-issued or independently endorsed.
What makes the Superman line distinctive?
YEMA identifies the Superman as a French dive-watch line introduced in the 1960s. The current collection is broad: alongside Classics are Dato, Gilt, Bronze, Slim, Skin Diver, Titanium, and a Titanium Tourbillon family. YEMA describes the Superman Classics heritage reissues as having a steel case, straight lugs, and a patented bezel-lock mechanism. These details apply to the models described on the Classics page, not automatically to every watch bearing the Superman name. Check the individual reference for the actual case shape, dimensions, water resistance, and other specifications.
Superman Classics movements: Sellita SW-200 or CMM.10?
The most important distinction in the Superman Classics range is the movement. YEMA offers versions it describes as Swiss Made with a Sellita SW-200 and French Manufacture versions with its CMM.10. Do not assume the movement, manufacturing description, or price of one version applies to another; verify the exact reference on the Superman Classics page.

What did YEMA list the Superman Classics for?
When the official US page was accessed in 2026, it listed the Superman Heritage at $1,004 and Superman CMM.10 versions from $1,890. These are time-sensitive US retail listings, not fixed prices or evidence of comparative value; prices and availability may differ by reference, date, and market. Check the live listing and your local market before deciding.

How to decide whether a YEMA is worth buying
There is no one answer for the whole brand: YEMA sells multiple collections, and even Superman models vary. Compare the actual watch you are considering on the points that change the ownership experience:
- Movement: confirm whether the reference uses a Sellita SW-200, CMM.10, or another movement; do not infer it from the collection name.
- Case and fit: check the exact case size and shape, lug geometry, and how the watch is intended to be worn. The Classics heritage description does not establish dimensions for every variant.
- Design and use: decide whether a classic diver look, date display, bronze or titanium case, or slimmer profile suits your preferences. The model family is a starting point, not a substitute for the full specification.
- Price and market: compare the current price of the exact reference in your region, rather than relying on a past US listing or assuming that a higher-priced movement is automatically better value for you.
- Ownership details: look up the specific warranty, servicing arrangements, accuracy information, and water-resistance rating before purchase. These details are not established uniformly across the collection overview.
For a replacement strap or band, YEMA lists both among its accessory categories. Confirm compatibility with the particular reference, including lug or bracelet fit, before ordering; the collections index lists the brand’s categories.

What is established—and what is not
YEMA’s official pages establish how the company presents its history, manufacturing network, partnerships, and collection. They do not by themselves establish long-term reliability, quality-control consistency, real-world water resistance, measured accuracy, or customer-service outcomes.
