The Seiko Prospex “Save The Ocean” SSC675 is a solar-powered diver’s chronograph with a vivid blue wave-pattern dial, a 200 m water-resistance rating and a 60-minute stopwatch. Seiko’s product page uses the reference SSC675; the 2018 hands-on article identifies it as SSC675P, while another listing style is SSC675P1. Those suffixes can vary by market, so check the reference on the watch or seller’s listing before buying.
The specifications below come from Seiko’s current product page. The visual impressions and launch-era context are attributed to Cameron Wong’s original Time+Tide hands-on feature, published 28 August 2018; they are not new independent wear or testing results.
What makes the SSC675 a “Save The Ocean” chronograph?
It combines a Prospex Sea diver-style case and rotating bezel with Seiko’s V175 solar chronograph movement. Its defining visual feature is a saturated blue dial patterned to suggest ocean waves. In his 2018 feature, Wong described the wave-like surface as resembling blue whale skin, writing: “Each special edition watch in the series features a wave-like dial resembling the skin of the mighty blue whale.” That is a description of the design concept, not a scientific claim about whale skin.
Wong also observed that the blue dial can appear purple in some lighting, giving it a less uniform look than a flat blue dial. The watch pairs it with a blue two-colour bezel. These are the original writer’s visual impressions, rather than claims based on a new hands-on examination.

How the solar chronograph works in everyday use
The V175 is a solar movement, not an automatic caliber. Seiko states that a full charge provides approximately six months of operation and gives a precision figure of ±15 seconds per month. Those are the manufacturer’s specifications, not results from independent timing or power-reserve testing.

The chronograph records elapsed time up to 60 minutes, with readings in 1/5-second increments. Separate from that stopwatch function, the dial includes a 24-hour hand and a date display. Seiko also lists overcharge prevention. For operating and charging instructions, use Seiko’s English V175 instruction page; the company advises owners to identify the caliber code on the case back when looking for the correct manual.
Case size, bracelet and fit
At 43.5 mm across and 13.8 mm thick, the SSC675 has substantial dimensions for a watch that also includes a chronograph. The 20 mm lug distance is useful when checking replacement straps, but width alone does not guarantee a compatible fit: verify the strap’s end shape, spring-bar arrangement and clearance against the case. Seiko lists the supplied bracelet with a three-fold clasp, secure lock, push-button release and extender.

- WATER-RESISTANT: these water-resistant men's dive watches are ISO scuba-approved to depths of 200 meters

The Hardlex crystal, LumiBrite on the hands and indices, unidirectional bezel and screw case back are the practical details to weigh alongside the blue dial. Seiko’s 200 m / 660 ft diver’s rating is a stated specification; it should not be confused with a claim that this article independently tested the watch underwater.

Seiko’s product page labels the watch SSC675. Wong’s 2018 article uses SSC675P, and the specialist review title uses SSC675P1. Treat these as reference variations seen in different sources, not proof that every region uses the same complete suffix. Confirm the exact marking, condition, seller and region on any listing.

Prices are location- and date-specific. Seiko’s India English product page displayed INR 45,000 when accessed in 2026. Wong’s August 2018 article reported A$799 in Australia; that is a historical launch-era price, not a current quote or a direct comparison with the India figure. Seiko maintains a product page, but that alone does not establish stock at a particular retailer or whether the model is currently available in every market.
What the 2018 conservation connection does—and does not—establish
Wong’s 2018 launch-era article said a portion of sales from the three-watch series went toward ocean conservation with marine conservationist Fabien Cousteau. The available evidence does not establish a current donation, its amount, a current recipient arrangement or an ongoing commitment tied to purchases today. Buyers should not treat a present-day listing as a verified conservation contribution.

Who should consider the SSC675?
- Consider it if you want a solar chronograph rather than an automatic watch, like a strongly patterned blue dial, and are comfortable with the listed 43.5 mm diameter and 13.8 mm thickness.
- Check carefully if bracelet fit, case dimensions or the exact reference suffix matter to you; confirm the measurements and marking on the specific watch or listing.
- Do not buy on the assumption that a current purchase supports conservation. The documented contribution is a statement in the 2018 article, not a confirmed current program.
