What is the Swatch WHAT IF? collection?
Swatch says its engineers considered both round and square prototypes while developing the first Swatch, then chose the round design and named it GENT. The BIOCERAMIC WHAT IF? line revisits the unchosen direction, asking, “What if… watches didn’t have to be round?” Swatch describes the collection as inspired by an early square prototype. The watches use a square case with sharp corners, edge-to-edge glass and an integrated strap. Swatch describes BIOCERAMIC as a blend of ceramic powder and biosourced materials; it says the case and integrated strap use this material. The battery cover on each watch references a dial from one of the early 1983 prototypes. These are Swatch’s descriptions of the materials and design heritage, not independent findings about durability or performance.
Which WHAT IF? models are available?
The Swatch US listing reviewed included standard-color models named WHAT IF…BLACK?, WHAT IF…ALLWHITE?, WHAT IF…BLACKAGAIN?, WHAT IF…GREEN?, WHAT IF…MINT?, WHAT IF…BEIGE?, WHAT IF…GRAY?, WHAT IF…ROSE?, WHAT IF…LEMON? and WHAT IF…SKY?, alongside newer See Thru colors. At the time that US listing was reviewed, several standard WHAT IF? models were listed at $120 and several See Thru models at $110. Those are page observations, not fixed or global prices; check the current Swatch US listing for availability and price.

Swatch lists the WHAT IF…ROSE? reference SO34P700 with quartz movement and 2 Bar water resistance. Its product description specifies a square rose BIOCERAMIC case, edge-to-edge biosourced glass, glow-in-the-dark hands, a day-date window at 3 o’clock, an integrated biosourced strap and a BIOCERAMIC buckle. Battery information and replacement
Swatch’s battery-list PDF associates the BIOCERAMIC WHAT IF? product line with a Renata 377 battery designation. The document lists a 1.55 V battery measuring 6.8 × 2.6 mm. That identifies the manufacturer’s listed battery type; it is not a do-it-yourself replacement procedure.
