The redesign made the case smaller than its 44 mm predecessor and added the domed “Glassbox” crystal and a curved minute track. Its automatic TH20-09 COSC movement has a 65-hour power reserve; the official US listing gives the watch 100 m water resistance.
What is the Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Glassbox?
Reference CBS5010.FC6543 combines a chronograph with a tourbillon, a rotating mechanism visible at 6 o’clock. The stainless-steel case frames a blue circular-brushed dial with orange accents. TAG Heuer’s official product page lists it as a 42 mm watch with an automatic TH20-09 COSC movement. TAG Heuer’s US product listing uses the brand phrase “Fit for the track”; that is product copy rather than an independent performance assessment.

What changed in the Glassbox update?
Time+Tide reported the Glassbox update in April 2023 as a refinement of the Carrera tourbillon chronograph, rather than a new release in 2026. Its account describes a shift from a 44 mm case to 42 mm, alongside a box-domed sapphire crystal and a curved minute track/rehaut that follows the dial’s perimeter. The effect is a more compact case with the timing scale integrated into the crystal-and-dial profile. Time+Tide’s 2023 launch coverage also reports that the model retained a 28,800 vph beat rate and 65-hour reserve while using bidirectional winding.

How the size and movement shape the proposition
The 42 mm diameter is the clearest measurable change from the prior 44 mm design described by Time+Tide. It does not, by itself, establish how the watch will sit on a particular wrist: TAG Heuer lists a 14.3 mm case thickness and 22.1 mm lug distance as well, and fit depends on wrist shape and preference. The curved minute track and raised sapphire create a distinctive dial profile, but the available specifications do not provide an independent assessment of readability or comfort.
#1 Best Overall
The TH20-09 is automatic and COSC-certified, with TAG Heuer listing a 65-hour power reserve and 28,800 vph frequency. Time+Tide’s 2023 report specifies bidirectional winding. A tourbillon and chronograph make this a high-complication watch; the published figures describe its stated specifications, not comparative performance against other models.
Price and availability depend on market and date
When accessed in 2026, TAG Heuer’s US product page displayed a price of $37,200. Time+Tide reported an Australian launch price of A$34,850 and availability from May 2023. These figures refer to different markets and dates, so they are not directly comparable; the US listing should be checked for current price and availability in the buyer’s market.

What to compare before choosing a high-complication chronograph
For a meaningful comparison with another watch, look beyond the tourbillon label. Check case diameter and thickness, winding system and reserve, chronograph layout, visibility of the tourbillon, dial legibility, water resistance, strap and clasp, warranty and service support, and the price and availability in your market. The specifications above provide a starting point, but the sources cited here do not establish a head-to-head comparison with another model.
