The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Skipper is a 39 mm automatic chronograph that brings a sailing regatta countdown to the modern Carrera Glassbox design. The current model is reference CBS2213.FN6002, powered by TAG Heuer’s in-house TH20-06 movement with an 80-hour power reserve. Despite the assignment’s “hands-on” framing, no physical watch inspection is represented here; dimensions and performance details below are published specifications, and the history is TAG Heuer’s account.
What is the TAG Heuer Carrera Skipper?
The Carrera Skipper is a stainless-steel sailing-themed chronograph. Its defining feature is a 15-minute regatta countdown displayed in colored segments on the dial, alongside conventional chronograph functions. The modern version, reference CBS2213.FN6002, was introduced in the Carrera’s 60th-anniversary context and adapts the bezel-free case language of the Carrera Glassbox line.

TAG Heuer’s 2023 brochure describes a domed, double anti-reflective sapphire Glassbox crystal over a blue, circular-brushed dial. A blue fabric strap and folding steel clasp complete the listed configuration. These are manufacturer descriptions rather than observations from an independent hands-on inspection.
How does the regatta countdown work?
The 15-minute counter is divided into teal, green and orange sections. In TAG Heuer’s explanation, orange marks the final five minutes before a race departure; green recalls boat rigging, while light teal references the deck of Intrepid. The 12-hour counter is teal, and the central chronograph seconds hand is orange.

A regatta countdown is intended to track the timed sequence before a race starts. The colored final-five-minute sector makes that interval distinct on the dial; the watch also has a 12-hour counter and date, according to TAG Heuer’s specifications.

What movement is in the TAG Heuer Skipper?
TAG Heuer lists its in-house automatic TH20-06 movement, with an 80-hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). The listed functions include date and chronograph timing, with a 15-minute counter and 12-hour counter. These specifications do not establish independent results for accuracy, timekeeping consistency or sailing use.
How is the new Skipper connected to the original Heuer watch?
TAG Heuer’s Official Magazine dates the original Heuer Skipper, reference 7754, to 1968. In the brand’s historical account, Heuer’s timing relationship with the America’s Cup boat Intrepid followed the boat’s 1967 victory, which it records as four races to nil. The company says it produced the Skipper in 1968 to commemorate that victory, in connection with its relationship with Abercrombie & Fitch. The brand also says the watch was made in limited quantities and did not appear in the Heuer catalogue.
Rank #2
The current model carries that lineage forward through its sailing function and color palette, while its case is derived from the contemporary Carrera Glassbox rather than presented as a reproduction of the original. TAG Heuer’s brochure and magazine describe the colors as recalling the original Skipper while serving the modern countdown display.
