The current TAG Heuer Connected is the Calibre E5, launched in 2025 and built on TAG Heuer OS rather than Wear OS by Google. In the US collection checked on August 16, 2026, prices run from about $1,650 to $2,550. You can choose 40 mm or 45 mm cases, standard or sport-focused editions, and collaborations for golf, running or Formula 1. The key trade-off is clear: you get TAG Heuer design, sapphire crystal and a curated sports experience, but E5 does not support contactless payments and does not offer the broad Wear OS or Apple Watch app ecosystem.
What the TAG Heuer Connected collection is
Connected is TAG Heuer’s smartwatch line, separate from mechanical families such as Carrera, Monaco, Aquaracer and Formula 1. The generation matters because the platform changed substantially in 2025.
| Generation | Approximate release | Operating system | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Calibre E1 | 2015 | Wear OS by Google | Legacy |
| Calibre E2 | 2017 | Wear OS by Google | Legacy |
| Calibre E3 | 2020 | Wear OS by Google | Legacy |
| Calibre E4 | 2022 | Wear OS by Google | Previous/discontinued on some product pages |
| Calibre E5 | 2025 | TAG Heuer OS | Current generation |
TAG Heuer’s pairing guidance treats E5 as a separate platform: it pairs exclusively through the TAG Heuer Connected app.

Standard E5: choosing 40 mm or 45 mm
40 mm
The smaller case is the sensible choice for smaller wrists, lighter daily wear and runners who dislike bulky sports watches. It also gives up some endurance and screen area. The New Balance 40 mm uses a 1.2-inch, 390 × 390 OLED display, a 300 mAh battery and TAG Heuer’s rating of 1.5 days in full-performance mode or up to two days in low-power mode.
45 mm
The larger case suits bigger wrists and buyers who want an imposing watch presence, a larger display for golf maps or race information and the best published E5 endurance. Selected 45 mm models use a 1.39-inch, 454 × 454 display and a 419 mAh battery. TAG Heuer rates them for up to three days in low-power mode or about 17 hours in sport mode.
Measure an existing watch against the case diameter and thickness before ordering. Titanium reduces weight, but a 45 mm case that is more than 15 mm thick can still feel substantial.

Golf Edition
The Golf Edition combines a black DLC-coated grade 2 titanium case with a ceramic bezel engraved for 18 holes. TAG Heuer Golf provides shot tracking, course maps and game statistics. It has the 45 mm, 1.39-inch display, 419 mAh battery, 50 m water resistance, up to three days in low-power mode and about 17 hours in sport mode.
Rank #2
Its main advantage over a standard E5 is the golf-oriented case, bezel, strap and presentation. Confirm the exact software bundle for the reference you are buying rather than assuming every feature is exclusive to this edition.
TaylorMade Edition
The TaylorMade Edition went on sale June 25, 2026. In addition to its 45 mm titanium design and co-branded details, it adds automatic shot tracking, hole-layout views, automatic Strokes Gained, TaylorMade performance analysis and complications for longest drive, scores, rounds and birdies. Tracking can be affected by GPS conditions, obstructions, swing type and user behavior; automatic capture is not a promise of perfect detection.

The Formula 1 Edition is a $2,550 45 mm titanium model with black DLC, ceramic and red accents. Its Formula 1 software includes 24 circuit watch faces, a Grand Prix calendar, schedules, results, driver and team standings, and race-weekend widgets. TAG Heuer updates the circuit faces during the season. The premium is primarily for design, fandom and themed software, not superior general training hardware.
New Balance Edition
The New Balance Edition is a 40 mm black DLC-coated titanium watch limited to 3,000 pieces. It includes six New Balance running plans, branded faces, heart-rate, GPS, altimeter, sleep, SpO2 and heart-rate-variability tracking. Its published battery rating is 1.5 days at full performance or up to two days in low-power mode. It is the most compact current collaboration and the lowest US price observed.

TAG Heuer OS, hardware and compatibility
E5 uses TAG Heuer’s proprietary operating system, not Wear OS. The hardware listed across current models includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 5100+ processor, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi, GNSS, microphone, compass, accelerometer, gyroscope, altimeter, heart-rate sensor, OLED display, sapphire crystal, interchangeable straps, four-pin charging and 50 m water resistance. Sensor data is for wellness and activity tracking, not medical diagnosis.
Phones and pairing
E5 requires iOS 18 or later or Android 13 or later, has Made for iPhone certification and pairs through the TAG Heuer Connected app. Compatibility does not provide Apple Watch-level integration. Older compatibility statements on E1–E4 pages should not be applied to E5.

What TAG Heuer OS does
- Custom watch faces and widgets
- Calls managed from the watch and voice-assistant access
- Heart-rate, activity, sleep and wellness tracking
- GPS/GNSS sports recording
- TAG Heuer Golf, Sports and Wellness applications
- Edition-specific golf, running or Formula 1 features
What it does not do
TAG Heuer’s payment support table states that E5 contactless payments are not supported on Android or iOS: payment compatibility FAQ. Do not assume Google Wallet, Wear OS apps, Google Play applications, Wear OS faces, offline music, navigation or broad third-party messaging support. Check the exact model and current software documentation for any feature you consider essential.
Battery life and charging
| Model/condition | Published rating |
|---|---|
| Selected 45 mm E5 in low-power mode | Up to three days |
| Selected 45 mm E5 in sport mode | Approximately 17 hours |
| TaylorMade golf use | Up to 12 hours, according to TaylorMade material |
| 40 mm New Balance, full performance | 1.5 days |
| 40 mm New Balance, low power | Up to two days |
| Full charge | Approximately 90 minutes |
These are mode-dependent manufacturer figures, not a guarantee of mixed-use runtime. GPS, golf tracking, calls, Wi-Fi, notifications, brightness, always-on display, software and battery age can shorten them. TAG Heuer’s TaylorMade material says a 30-minute charge can provide roughly a day of use.

E4 and earlier
E4 uses the E3/E4 TAG Heuer Connected app and Wear OS technology; TAG Heuer says the Wear OS app is not required for E4 pairing. E3 uses both the Wear OS app and E3/E4 Connected app, while E1 and E2 rely on older Wear OS and Connected applications. E4 updates are found under Settings → System → Update, with TAG Heuer apps updated through the watch’s Play Store.

Calibre E4 versus E5
| Area | Calibre E4 | Calibre E5 |
|---|---|---|
| Platform | Wear OS by Google | TAG Heuer OS |
| Payments | Google Wallet on Android; not iOS | No contactless payments on Android or iOS |
| Pairing | E3/E4 TAG Heuer Connected app | TAG Heuer Connected app only |
| Status | Previous generation; some references marked discontinued | Current generation |
| Best reason to buy | Large discount and desire for Wear OS/Google Wallet on Android | Current hardware, support path and TAG Heuer OS experience |
A used E4 is not an E5 software update. Verify phone compatibility, charger, battery condition, warranty and exact reference, and accept that its remaining software-support horizon is less certain.
Which Connected should you buy?
- Standard E5: Choose it for the broadest size, case and strap choice without collaboration branding.
- 40 mm New Balance: Choose it for running plans, a compact fit and the lowest current E5 entry price.
- Golf Edition: Choose it for the engraved 18-hole bezel and golf-focused presentation.
- TaylorMade Edition: Choose it when automatic shot tracking and Strokes Gained analysis justify the price.
- Formula 1 Edition: Choose it for race-specific faces, schedules, results and team standings.
- Used E4: Consider only when Wear OS or Android Google Wallet matters and the discount compensates for its age.
When another smartwatch is the better choice
| Priority | More suitable direction |
|---|---|
| iPhone integration, payments and broad apps | Apple Watch |
| Training depth, navigation and long battery life | Garmin sports watches |
| Golf performance data over luxury finishing | Garmin Approach models |
| Google services, Play apps and Google Wallet | Wear OS watch |
| TAG Heuer materials, styling and curated sports features | Connected E5 |
The E5 is a poor fit if payments, cellular service, a large app store, advanced training analytics, offline navigation or multi-week endurance is non-negotiable.
Buying checklist
- Confirm E4 or E5 from the reference number and operating system.
- Check that your phone runs iOS 18+ or Android 13+ for E5.
- Decide whether 40 mm comfort or 45 mm screen and endurance matters more.
- Verify that the exact model includes the golf, running or Formula 1 features you want.
- Accept that E5 has no contactless payments.
- Check charger inclusion, warranty, regional compatibility and whether the watch is new, refurbished or used.
- Read battery figures with their mode attached, especially for GPS and sport use.
- For third-party purchases, compare the exact reference with TAG Heuer’s current collection and product pages.
The Bottom Line
Buy the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5 for its Swiss luxury-watch design, materials and focused sports experience—not for maximum smartwatch functionality. The standard E5 is the versatile choice; New Balance is the compact running option; Golf and TaylorMade serve different levels of golf specialization; Formula 1 is the fan edition. If payments, broad apps, cellular service or deep training tools are essential, Apple Watch, Garmin or Wear OS is likely the better fit.
