Short answer: the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 is worth considering only as a discounted luxury smartwatch for buyers who prioritize TAG Heuer design, sapphire crystal, and Wear OS over battery life, health analytics, and long-term platform support. The 45mm is the safer choice for most buyers because its 440mAh battery has more practical reserve; the 42mm is easier to wear but less forgiving on demanding days.
Verdict: The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 is a luxury watch with smartwatch functions, not a technology leader wearing a TAG Heuer badge. Its sapphire crystal, substantial casework, distinctive watch faces, and recognizable design remain compelling. Its one-day battery life, aging Snapdragon Wear 4100+ platform, limited health analysis, lack of LTE, and discontinued status make it a poor choice at anything close to its original luxury-watch price.
That changes if you find a clean used or discounted example. The E4 can still be a satisfying Wear OS watch for someone who specifically wants TAG Heuer design and is willing to accept older hardware. Of the two sizes, the 45mm is the better all-rounder because its 440mAh battery gives it more practical headroom. The 42mm is the more comfortable choice for smaller wrists, but its 330mAh battery can run close to empty after a demanding day.
TAG Heuer Connected E4: what you get
TAG Heuer introduced the Connected Calibre E4 generation in 2022 in 42mm and 45mm case sizes. Both versions use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100+ platform and Google’s Wear OS, with TAG Heuer software for watch-face customization, sports, golf, and wellness.

The core hardware includes:
- AMOLED touchscreen display
- Sapphire crystal
- Heart-rate sensor
- GNSS positioning
- Compass and barometer
- Microphone
- NFC
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0
- 50-meter water resistance on the cited steel references
- Proprietary four-pin charging cradle
The range also included Golf, Porsche, Oracle Red Bull Racing, black titanium, and other special editions. These are not simply cosmetic changes: case materials, straps, software presentation, and included accessories can differ by reference. Check the exact reference number before assuming that specifications or strap compatibility from one E4 apply to another.
Design and build quality
The E4’s physical construction is its strongest argument. This is a smartwatch designed to resemble a serious luxury sports watch rather than a small computer with a watch band attached. The cited 45mm steel model combines a steel case and bracelet with a ceramic bezel, integrated pushers, and sapphire crystal. Other references use titanium, rubber, leather, or hybrid strap configurations.
Sapphire is particularly important on a watch intended to look expensive. It is substantially more scratch resistant than the strengthened mineral glass used on many mainstream smartwatches. That does not make the screen indestructible—sharp impacts can still chip or crack sapphire—but it helps the E4 retain a cleaner appearance during normal ownership.
The trade-off is size. The 45mm model is approximately 15.27mm thick, which makes it a bold sports-watch presence but a potentially awkward fit under a fitted shirt cuff. The 42mm model is approximately 14.20mm thick and easier to wear on a smaller wrist, although it is still a substantial watch rather than a discreet fitness tracker.

| Thickness | Approximately 14.20mm | Approximately 15.27mm |
| Water resistance | 50 meters | 50 meters |
| Crystal | Sapphire | Sapphire |
| Best for | Smaller wrists and less imposing wear | Battery margin, larger display, and a bolder sports-watch look |
Both sizes support interchangeable straps, but they do not use exactly the same lug measurement. The documented lug distances are approximately 21.09mm for the 42mm and 22.09mm for the 45mm. Do not assume that a generic 22mm strap will fit either model correctly. Confirm the watch size, exact reference, lug dimensions, and release mechanism before ordering.
Display and watch faces
The 42mm’s 1.28-inch and 45mm’s 1.39-inch AMOLED screens are sharp, colorful, and bright enough for ordinary outdoor use. The sapphire covering gives both versions a more premium feel and better scratch resistance than many competing smartwatches.
TAG Heuer’s watch-face collection is one of the E4’s genuine differentiators. The designs borrow from the company’s mechanical-watch identity and make the display feel more like a TAG Heuer dial than a generic Wear OS screen. Buyers choosing the E4 for appearance will likely appreciate this more than buyers comparing processors or health metrics.
A screen protector is optional. Sapphire crystal already makes scratches relatively difficult, so a protector is best viewed as inexpensive insurance against impact damage, cosmetic wear on a used watch, or resale concerns—not as a necessary accessory for normal use.

Wear OS experience and smart features
The E4 provides the expected Wear OS basics: notifications, downloadable apps, music controls, Google services, watch-face customization, and NFC-related functions where supported by the user’s country, bank, phone, and software configuration. The Snapdragon Wear 4100+ was responsive enough for normal navigation when the watch launched, and independent reviews found the experience remained usable after the Wear OS 3 update.

It is no longer current hardware, however. Newer smartwatches offer more modern processors, longer support horizons, and—in some cases—better battery performance. The E4 is best judged as a capable older Wear OS watch in a premium case, not as a direct technology equal to the newest models.
Pairing and updates
TAG Heuer’s current support instructions identify the TAG Heuer Connected E3/E4 app as the normal route for pairing, personalization, fitness tracking, and health monitoring. The separate Wear OS phone app is not required for the E4’s ordinary pairing workflow.
To check for a system update on the watch, open:
Settings → System → Update
App updates are handled through the Play Store on the watch. TAG Heuer describes automatic updating when the watch has Wi-Fi, is connected to the E3/E4 app, has a Google account connected, and is placed on its charger overnight.

A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11This is more involved than the tightly integrated setup of an Apple Watch. It also matters more with a used E4: before paying, confirm that the watch can be factory-reset, paired with your intended phone, signed into, and updated. A watch that works on the seller’s wrist but cannot complete setup on your phone is not a bargain.
Phone compatibility and iPhone limitations
For the referenced E4 product pages, TAG Heuer lists Android 8.1 through Android 15, excluding Android Go, and iOS 15.4 through iOS 18.4. These ranges are subject to change, and TAG Heuer cautions that features and app availability can vary by platform, country, language, and Google Mobile Services support. Verify compatibility again before buying, particularly if you are purchasing a used watch.
The E4 can work with an iPhone, but the experience is more constrained than the Android experience for some Wear OS features and apps. iPhone owners should compare it carefully with Apple Watch and newer TAG Heuer generations rather than assuming that any Wear OS watch will provide an equivalent cross-platform experience.
TAG Heuer’s successor, the Connected Calibre E5, moved away from Wear OS to TAG Heuer OS and placed more emphasis on iPhone integration. That does not make the E5 automatically better for every buyer, but it confirms that the E4 belongs to an older software strategy.

The E4 has enough hardware for ordinary activity tracking. Its heart-rate sensor, GNSS, barometer, compass, and TAG Heuer Sports, Golf, and Wellness apps cover common uses such as running, cycling, swimming, route tracking, golf, and basic wellness monitoring.
The limitation is analytical depth rather than a lack of sensors. Independent reviews found the E4’s heart-rate tracking and broader health analysis less convincing than the best current offerings from Apple, Garmin, and Samsung. It is suitable for casual exercise and for users who want TAG Heuer’s sports presentation. It is not the right purchase for structured athletic training, advanced recovery analysis, or medical monitoring.

Do not buy the E4 expecting the most accurate training data, the deepest sleep analysis, or a substitute for a medical device. Its fitness features are useful supporting functions in a luxury smartwatch—not the reason the watch commands its premium.
Battery life: the 45mm is the safer choice
Battery capacity is 330mAh in the 42mm and 440mAh in the 45mm. TAG Heuer rates both for a full day under stated conditions, including a sports session. In practical testing, the 45mm generally managed a day with some reserve under moderate settings, while the 42mm could approach exhaustion after a demanding day.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Neither model is a multi-day endurance smartwatch. GPS use, a bright always-on display, frequent notifications, calls, and health tracking will reduce the margin. If you need to sleep-track every night without charging or travel for several days without a cradle, the E4 is a poor fit.
The 45mm’s larger battery is therefore more than a specification advantage. It is the difference between ending the day with useful reserve and having to manage settings carefully. Choose the 45mm if your wrist can accommodate it.
Charging and the accessory risk
Charging uses a proprietary four-pin cradle, and TAG Heuer specifies approximately 90 minutes for a full charge. Independent testing found no quick-charge mode.
On a discontinued watch, the charger is a deal-breaker item. A missing or damaged cradle can make an otherwise functional used E4 difficult or expensive to keep in service. If you are buying second-hand, ask for a photo of the included charger and confirm that the watch reaches the charging screen and maintains a connection.
If you need one, search specifically for a TAG Heuer Connected E4 replacement charger. Before ordering, verify the exact E4 generation, 42mm or 45mm model, four-pin arrangement, seller return policy, and whether the listing includes a complete charging dock rather than a visually similar magnetic puck. Current marketplace inventory and seller compatibility should be checked at the time of purchase.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Ownership, support, and longevity
TAG Heuer’s current product pages identify the cited E4 references as discontinued. Discontinued does not mean unusable: TAG Heuer continues to publish pairing, update, product-guide, service, repair, warranty, and customer-care information. It does mean that ownership carries more uncertainty than buying a current model.
The main risks are:
- Battery aging: every used E4 is closer to needing service than a new watch would be.
- Accessory availability: the proprietary charger and model-specific straps may become harder to source.
- Phone compatibility: future iOS or Android changes may affect setup or features.
- Software support: the older Wear OS platform is unlikely to have the same runway as current hardware.
- Repair economics: a luxury case does not guarantee that battery or electronic repairs will be inexpensive.

- Confirm the exact model: identify the 42mm or 45mm size and the specific edition or reference.
- Confirm the charger: make sure the proprietary four-pin cradle is included, undamaged, and demonstrably charging the watch.
- Check battery behavior: ask whether it reaches a full charge and lasts a normal day. Treat vague answers as a warning.
- Test the controls: verify the touchscreen, crown, and every pusher.
- Test sensors and radios: check heart-rate readings, GPS/GNSS acquisition, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC-related functions where available.
- Check the crystal and case: inspect the sapphire for chips, the bezel for impact damage, and the charging contacts for corrosion.
- Factory-reset it: ensure the watch can be erased and reaches the setup process without a previous owner’s account blocking use.
- Pair with the intended phone: install the TAG Heuer Connected E3/E4 app and complete pairing before finalizing the purchase when possible.
- Inspect the strap system: confirm that the release mechanism is intact and that replacement straps are available for the exact size.
Value: who should buy it?
The E4 made sense as a luxury alternative to mainstream Wear OS watches when it launched. Today, value depends almost entirely on the price, condition, and buyer’s priorities.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Paying more for the TAG Heuer name, finishing, materials, and watch faces can be rational if those are the features you care about. It is difficult to justify the E4 as a pure technology purchase when newer watches provide stronger battery life, newer processors, more advanced health features, and a longer expected support period.
Buy the E4 if:
- You specifically want TAG Heuer styling and a luxury-watch construction.
- Sapphire crystal and premium case materials matter more than maximum tracking accuracy.
- You want Wear OS access in a traditional-looking watch.
- You can accept charging every day.
- You are buying at a substantial discount and can verify battery and charger condition.
Skip it if:
- You need multi-day battery life.
- You want LTE or reliable phone-free calling.
- You need advanced training, recovery, or health analytics.
- You want the newest processor and the clearest long-term software-support outlook.
- You use an iPhone and want the most seamless possible smartwatch integration.
- The seller cannot provide the correct charger or demonstrate pairing and charging.
Final recommendation
Buy the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 for the watch, not for the smartwatch specifications. Its sapphire crystal, strong physical design, ceramic details on selected references, and TAG Heuer watch faces still give it an identity that many technically superior watches lack. But one-day endurance, modest health capabilities, no LTE in the reviewed configurations, an older Wear OS platform, and discontinued status impose real compromises.
The 45mm is the best practical choice if you can wear its large, thick case. Choose the 42mm for comfort and proportion, not because it offers equivalent battery performance. For either size, charger inclusion and battery health should be treated as deal-breaker checks in a used purchase.
Bottom line: the E4 is a defensible discounted luxury smartwatch for a design-first Wear OS buyer, but it is not a good value as a technology-first purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the TAG Heuer Connected E4 42mm or 45mm better?
The 45mm model is the better practical choice because its 440mAh battery gives it more usable reserve than the 42mm’s 330mAh battery. The 42mm is slimmer and more comfortable for smaller wrists, but it is more likely to approach exhaustion after a demanding day.
Is the TAG Heuer Connected E4 still worth buying?
It can still be worth buying when the price is substantially discounted and the buyer values TAG Heuer’s materials, styling, sapphire crystal, and watch faces. It is not a strong value as a technology purchase because it has one-day battery life, an older Wear OS platform, limited health analysis, and discontinued status.
Does the TAG Heuer Connected E4 work with iPhone?
Yes, the E4 can work with an iPhone, but some Wear OS features and apps are more constrained than on Android. Confirm current compatibility and compare the experience with Apple Watch and newer TAG Heuer models before buying.
What charger does the TAG Heuer Connected E4 use?
The E4 charges through a proprietary four-pin cradle, with a stated full-charge time of approximately 90 minutes. It does not have a quick-charge mode according to independent testing. Verify that a used watch includes the correct working cradle.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The TAG Heuer Connected E4 remains attractive as a luxury watch with Wear OS, sapphire crystal, and distinctive TAG Heuer design. Buy it only at a sensible used or discounted price, and only after verifying the charger, battery, reset process, and phone pairing. Choose 45mm for battery headroom; choose 42mm for a smaller wrist.
