Those figures do not establish how it wears on a particular wrist or how it performs in water; independent wear, accuracy and water-resistance testing are not available here.
The key buying complication is availability. TAG Heuer labels the CBE2110.FC8226 discontinued. The US product page displayed $7,650 when accessed in 2026, but that is a regional manufacturer-page figure, not a current universal retail price or an estimate of pre-owned value. A purchase decision should therefore turn on the specific watch’s condition, authenticity, service documentation and asking price.

Calibre Heuer 02: what the movement specification tells you
TAG Heuer identifies the automatic Calibre Heuer 02 as an in-house movement and specifies an 80-hour power reserve and 28,800-vph (4 Hz) frequency. The stated reserve means the watch can run for up to that period off the wrist when fully wound, but actual results depend on use and condition; it is not a timekeeping-accuracy rating.
In its official Autavia history, TAG Heuer describes the Heuer 02 as using a column wheel and vertical clutch, and calls this re-edition the movement’s launch model. That is brand-provided movement background, not an independent teardown or performance test. The official listing gives the chronograph a 30-minute counter and a 12-hour counter alongside time and date functions.

Case, bezel and everyday-use considerations
The 42 mm polished-steel case and turning bezel give the watch a sportier configuration than a simple three-hand dress watch. The manufacturer’s 100 m water-resistance specification is useful context, but a depth rating alone does not establish dive-watch certification or guarantee the condition of an older, pre-owned example. Autavia lineage and the 2017 re-edition
TAG Heuer dates the Autavia chronograph’s introduction to 1962 and describes its historical links with racing and aviation. The brand places the standard-production CBE2110 in March 2017, as part of the Autavia’s second generation of re-editions. It followed that release with several special or limited editions during 2017 and 2018, so “2017 Autavia” can refer to more than one configuration. The modern re-edition belongs to the Autavia’s historical line, but it is a contemporary watch rather than a vintage Autavia. Its case, movement and specifications should be judged as a modern product; the shared name and design lineage do not make its dimensions, construction or ownership considerations identical to those of an original 1960s watch. In TAG Heuer’s 2022 catalogue, Honorary Chairman Jack Heuer recalled: “I relaunched Autavia in 1962 as a wristwatch. […] The Autavia as a complete range […] that was quite audacious at that time. TAG Heuer also listed a CBE2110.BA0687 with a steel bracelet, a distinct configuration from the CBE2110.FC8226’s brown camel-leather strap. The brand’s regional pages also show the bracelet version as discontinued. Do not assume a listing’s photographs or description match its reference suffix: confirm the reference on the watch and the included strap or bracelet before purchase. What to check before buying a discontinued example
- Confirm the reference. Check that the watch is CBE2110.FC8226 if you want the leather-strap version; CBE2110.BA0687 denotes the separately listed steel-bracelet configuration.
- Assess condition and completeness. Review clear photographs of the case, bezel, dial, hands, strap, buckle and any supplied box or papers. Ask which components are original and whether the strap has been replaced.
- Request service records. Ask for dated documentation of movement service and any water-resistance checks. A seller’s assurance alone is not a substitute for documented work or a fresh inspection.
