TAG Heuer’s Monaco Evergraph introduces the TH80-00, a new automatic chronograph calibre built around a compliant mechanism: flexible parts bend to perform functions that conventional chronographs assign to articulated arms, levers and joints. TAG Heuer featured the watch in its Watches and Wonders 2026 coverage and calls the architecture a break with conventional chronograph construction. “One-of-a-kind” refers to this mechanism, not to a one-off watch: the brand lists two Monaco Evergraph versions.
What is the TH80-00 mechanism?
In a traditional chronograph, multiple components move against one another through pivots and joints when the stopwatch starts, stops or resets. TAG Heuer says the TH80-00 instead uses flexible components that deform in a controlled way to carry out those operations. The approach is known as a compliant mechanism.
TAG Heuer’s stated design rationale is that fewer interacting components may mean less friction, less need for lubrication and less wear. Those are manufacturer claims about the design’s intended benefits, not independently established results: the published material does not provide comparative test data or long-term reliability evidence. The brand’s Official Magazine describes the calibre as one that “breaks radically with conventional chronograph construction.” TAG Heuer Official Magazine’s TH80-00 explainer provides the technical framing.
Who developed it, and what does TH80-00 power?
TAG Heuer says the calibre was co-developed with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier over five years, while the compliant chronograph mechanism itself was developed by TAG Heuer LAB. The company describes TH80-00 as exclusive to the Monaco Evergraph.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsAccording to TAG Heuer, TH80-00 is an automatic chronograph operating at 5 Hz, with 1/10-second chronograph precision and a 70-hour power reserve. The movement is listed as COSC-certified in the brand’s magazine and product information. These specifications are manufacturer-published figures rather than independent measurements. TAG Heuer’s calibre explainer details the movement, and its US blue-version listing identifies the product specifications.

TAG Heuer’s US site lists two references. Both pages identify the TH80-00 and give the same headline movement figures, dimensions and water resistance; the visible differences are the case treatment, dial description and strap.

- The watch is powered by the motion of the wearer's wrist. If the watch is not worn for 8 or more active hours per day, it will run slower than usual or even stop briefly.
| Reference | Case and dial | Strap | US listed price on October 4, 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| CEW5181.FT8123 | Grade 5 titanium case; transparent dial | Blue rubber | $28,500 |
| CEW5180.FT8122 | Black DLC-coated titanium case; black dial and black DLC-coated bridges | Black rubber | $28,500 |
These prices are the amounts displayed on the respective TAG Heuer US product pages when accessed October 4, 2026; pricing and availability may change. See the blue-version product page and the black-version product page for the listings.
For both references, the US product pages state a 40 mm case, 14.51 mm thickness, 22.59 mm lug distance, 30 m water resistance, 5 Hz frequency and 70-hour reserve. The shared figures do not establish that every detail of the two watches is identical; the pages differ in the visible finish and dial descriptions above.

What the launch does—and does not—establish
The noteworthy change is how the chronograph is constructed, not a proven claim that it will last longer or require less service than a conventional movement. TAG Heuer presents reduced friction and wear as expected advantages of its compliant architecture, but the available brand material does not supply independent comparisons or long-term data to quantify those benefits.
For care, TAG Heuer recommends servicing this high-end mechanical movement every four to five years. That is the manufacturer’s stated interval; owners should confirm current service guidance with TAG Heuer, since service needs and recommendations may depend on the watch’s use and condition. The interval is stated in the official TH80-00 article.
