It belongs to TAG Heuer’s Monaco V4 family, whose unusual mechanical architecture uses belts rather than relying only on conventional gear trains. TAG Heuer says the Monaco V4 was unveiled as a concept watch at BaselWorld in 2004. Its architecture includes four barrels mounted on ball bearings, pinions and belts, plus a linear winding system. The design rethinks how energy is stored, transmitted and wound within a mechanical watch.

TAG Heuer’s official magazine describes the Tourbillon model’s cage-driving belt as a 0.07 mm-thick component made from rubber and metal. A belt this small is the unusual link between the V4 architecture and the tourbillon complication: it drives the rotating cage instead of a conventional arrangement being the sole means of transmission.
What the design does—and does not—establish
The micro-belt makes the watch mechanically distinctive, but its presence alone does not demonstrate greater accuracy, reliability or service life. No independent accuracy measurements or durability assessments are established here, so those qualities should not be inferred from the architecture.
