Its reported 34 mm gold-plated case, unusual hour scale and crown-protecting shape make it an intriguing vintage watch—but its date is an estimate, and its printed “Waterproof” claim is no reason to expose it to water.
What is the Tourist RotorAutomatic?
In a July 20, 2023 feature, Tomas Rosputinsky of Fratello examines one Tourist RotorAutomatic fitted with a Felsa F760 movement. He describes it as an automatic watch with a date and a power-reserve indicator, an uncommon combination of practical complications and eye-catching dial design. The article concerns this particular example; it does not establish that every watch carrying the Tourist RotorAutomatic name has identical specifications.
How the dial and case are laid out
A busy dial with an unusual scale
The power-reserve indicator sits beside the 9 o’clock index, while the date appears across the dial. Even hours are shown as applied numerals and odd hours as applied indexes. Rosputinsky also points out radium dots and triangles along the minute track.
The scale marked “11, 22, 33, 44” is one of the watch’s most distinctive details—and, in the author’s view, one of its least legible. He says he resorted to using a loupe to examine it. A watchmaker’s loupe can help inspect tiny dial markings, though no particular loupe is tested or endorsed here.

A compact, stepped case
Rosputinsky reports a 34 mm diameter for the featured watch. He describes its case as gold-plated, with beveled lugs and a stepped upper profile. A cutout shelters the crown, integrating it into the case shape rather than leaving it fully exposed. These are observations about the example in the article, not confirmed specifications for every RotorAutomatic.
What the dial’s claims do—and do not—tell you
The dial includes the phrases “Unbreakable mainspring,” “Incabloc,” “Antimagnetic” and “Waterproof.” Rosputinsky cautions against accepting such claims at face value, writing: “My advice? Don’t believe it!” In particular, the article supplies no water-resistance test results or independent certification. Treat “Waterproof” as a period inscription, not a usable performance specification; do not assume the watch is safe to wear in water.

When was this example made?
The article says documentation that would date this particular watch is unavailable. Based on its styling and Felsa F760 movement, Rosputinsky estimates that it may be from the late 1950s. That is an informed impression, not an authenticated production date.
For broader context, Rosputinsky says power-reserve indicators appeared in prototypes in the 1930s and entered serial production roughly two decades later, mentioning Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Powermatic and later Futurematic. This is the historical framing in his article; it is not a model-by-model comparison of the Tourist with those watches.

Scarcity and the €100–200 remark
Rosputinsky calls the model scarce and says he bought his example at auction in Sweden. That account does not establish present-day availability. In the same July 2023 article, he mentions a €100–200 budget as an impression of what that amount could get. It is anecdotal context from that time—not a verified transaction range, current valuation or current asking price.

The Tourist RotorAutomatic’s appeal is in the combination: a power-reserve display positioned beside the 9 o’clock marker, a date, applied hour markers, a nonstandard numerical scale and a shaped case that shelters the crown. The result is visually dense rather than restrained. Rosputinsky’s informal “poor man’s Rolex” characterization refers to the dial’s slogan-heavy look; it does not indicate a brand relationship or establish a historical connection.
