That is an appealing specification-to-price combination, but “benchmark” is a judgment, not a proven market ranking. Current availability and pricing are unverified.
What kind of pilot watch is the SR-01?
Atmoss presented the SR-01 as its debut “Everyday Pilot’s Watch.” Its design pairs a relatively uncluttered dial with a slide-rule bezel, giving it a more technical look and an additional calculation tool. Reviewers praised its legibility, bezel action and brushed, utilitarian styling. Those features make it pilot-inspired; the available reviews do not establish that it is certified flight equipment.
Coverage describes black, gray or slate, and white dial versions. That is a record of variants discussed at launch, not confirmation that all colors are still available.
What does the SR-01 offer?

How did it wear in reviews?
Two reviewers reported a comfortable fit despite the 41 mm case: Worn & Wound wore it on a 6.25-inch wrist, while Time+Tide reported a good fit on a 6.1-inch wrist. These are individual impressions, not a fit guarantee. Worn & Wound preferred the rubber strap’s wearing experience to the bracelet.
Time+Tide recorded its pre-production review unit running at -2 seconds per day. That is one observation from one review unit, not a production accuracy guarantee. The article also notes that the final production bracelet differed from the pre-production sample.

What did the SR-01 cost at launch?
Prices below are historical 2023 launch figures, not verified current offers. Worn & Wound and Time+Tide reported the Kickstarter tiers and US$465 retail price; Time+Tide also gave an A$695 recommended retail price. Mainspring independently cited the US$335 super-early-bird tier.

Did it set the budget pilot-watch benchmark?
The SR-01 had a persuasive launch proposition: a named automatic movement, sapphire crystal, 100 m water-resistance specification, slide-rule bezel and two bracelet or strap options, at campaign prices below US$400. Reviewers also found the dimensions wearable on their own smaller wrists and praised aspects of its execution.
That evidence supports calling it a noteworthy value candidate at launch, not declaring it the category winner. The reviews do not provide a market-wide ranking or a like-for-like comparison across budget pilot watches, and the launch prices are not current price evidence. “Benchmark” is best read as an opinion about the package, not a measured result.
