In The Gentlemen, watches are character cues, not interchangeable badges of wealth. Costume designer Loulou Bontemps says she chose them to signal class, background and trustworthiness. Across seasons, the contrast between inherited pieces and watches Eddie chooses for himself also tracks his changing position.
What watch does Eddie wear in The Gentlemen?
In season one, Eddie Horniman (Theo James) first appears in a steel Bremont Broadsword while serving as an army officer. After inheriting the estate, he wears a rose-gold Patek Philippe Nautilus. The shift—from a restrained military watch to a conspicuous luxury piece—makes his new circumstances visible.

The exact Nautilus reference is disputed. Watchfinder identifies a reference 5990, while JCK names a 5711/1R; British GQ describes it as a rose-gold Nautilus without specifying a reference. The model family and color are the safest description, rather than either precise reference. Watchfinder’s watch breakdown and JCK’s identification differ on that detail.
Season two: a collection he chooses himself
By season two, Eddie’s watches reflect a different stage of life. In a September 4, 2026 interview, Bontemps says time has passed and he has begun spending his own money on watches he chooses. She calls the resulting mix eclectic: some pieces make a bold impression, while others, including Reversos, feel more restrained. For a country-shoot scene, the aim was a quintessential British gentleman’s look, with watches that did not demand attention. British GQ’s season-two interview with Bontemps describes that wardrobe direction.

Secondary watch identifications list a Rolex Daytona, Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar, Omega Speedmaster Moonshine Gold and Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre among Eddie’s season-two watches. Those are scene-level identifications, not a definitive production list; exact references and some sightings are disputed. Treat the names as reported identifications rather than confirmed specifications.

Freddie: a family watch, not Eddie’s windfall
Freddie inherits their father’s vintage Omega Constellation, while Eddie receives watches Bontemps describes as worth “an absolute fortune.” The sources differ on the Constellation’s age: British GQ calls it early 1960s, while Watchfinder describes a 1950s example. Neither establishes an exact reference, so the model family and its inherited status are more certain than a date or reference.

Bobby and Susie: season matters
British GQ identifies Bobby’s season-one watch as a Bremont ALT1; Watchfinder gives the more specific ALT1-ZT name. The evidence supports an ALT1-family chronograph, but not one settled submodel. Season-two reporting instead describes Bobby in a large Panerai.

Susie’s season-one Cartier is also uncertain at model level. British GQ and Watchfinder call it a Tank, while later identification reporting calls it a Panthère. The available accounts do not settle whether this is a mistaken identification or different watches in different scenes. In season two, Bontemps describes Susie wearing one or two Jaeger-LeCoultre Reversos. She suggests Eddie may have bought one for her; that is a possible character implication, not a confirmed plot fact.

Why the watch choices are deliberate
Bontemps’s explanation is more direct than a viewer’s guesswork: she says watches provide clues to characters’ trustworthiness, class and background. That makes a watch part of the storytelling, alongside clothing and behavior—not just an expensive accessory.
The difference between what a character inherits and what they select matters. Eddie’s first season watches come from his father; later, his collection becomes more eclectic as he spends his own money. For the country-shoot scene, Bontemps says, “I think a true British gentleman will dress for the occasion.” The watch contributes to that occasion-specific impression rather than serving as a simple measure of price or status.

How valuable were the watches used on set?
In a 2024 British GQ interview, Bontemps said season one included at least £6 million worth of watches, all loaned. This is an interview-reported estimate, not an audited valuation. In 2026, she told British GQ that the season-two total exceeded that amount, but gave no precise figure. The later season’s value should not be turned into a specific total.

British GQ reports that Henry Collins wears a showy gold Rolex Daytona, while Sticky Pete wears fake Patek- and Rolex-looking watches. Bontemps described Sticky Pete as unable to afford the real thing. These are costume identifications, not evidence that every watch bearing a similar appearance is authentic or screen-used.

- Check the season and scene. Characters can wear different watches as their stories and circumstances change.
- Prefer the model family when references conflict. Eddie’s Nautilus and Freddie’s Constellation are identifiable at family level, but the exact references are not settled by the cited coverage.
- Separate designer intent from watch-spotting. Bontemps’s comments establish the wardrobe rationale; specialist articles and identification databases make individual model attributions that can disagree.
- Do not infer a current price from the show. The reported season-one total concerns loaned watches and is an estimate, while individual resale prices vary over time.
