What is the Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman’s history?
Hamilton’s official product copy says the original Frogman was created for U.S. Naval “Frogman” teams and appeared in the 1951 film The Frogmen. The brand’s heritage story also says naval divers tested the original watch during the 1940s. These are Hamilton’s historical claims; the cited material does not independently establish procurement details or how many watches were used.
The connection to the film gives the watch a particularly visible place in Hamilton’s history. The company’s phrasing appears on its official Frogman product page, while its account of the earlier trials appears in “Essential equipment for all Frogmen”.
How have modern Frogman models changed?
Modern Khaki Navy Frogman watches retain the maritime and diving-watch premise, but Hamilton’s references differ in case size, crown protection, strap or bracelet, and other design details. For example, the 46 mm H77815130 has a distinctive crown protector and stainless-steel bracelet; the 42 mm H77705345 is a smaller alternative with a screw-down crown and Super-LumiNova. Those are reference-specific features, not specifications to assume across the entire Frogman range.

Hamilton’s Press Lounge archive records a 46 mm Frogman announcement dated April 12, 2022, as well as later Khaki Navy Scuba and Scuba GMT announcements. That places the Frogman within a broader, changing Khaki Navy collection; it does not establish that any particular Frogman reference remains on sale.
