A bracelet can change a watch’s character without changing the watch itself. Link pattern, finish, proportions and the way the end pieces meet the case all affect its appearance. Forstner’s vintage-inspired designs offer options from mesh-like Komfit to ladder and five-link styles—but the right choice depends on both your taste and the exact fit of your watch.
How can a bracelet change the look of a watch?
The bracelet is part of the watch’s visual design, not just a way to keep it on your wrist. A fine, flexible-looking pattern such as mesh can make a case feel less bulky; a ladder design creates open spaces between its links; a flat-link or five-link pattern gives the watch a more defined, segmented look. A polished finish catches more light, while brushed surfaces tend to look quieter. Mixed finishing can add contrast.
Proportion matters, too. Bracelet width, taper, end-link shape and the transition from bracelet to case determine whether the watch looks integrated or deliberately contrasting. There is no universally better pairing: a straight-end bracelet may create a casual, adaptable look, while fitted end links can make a bracelet appear tailored to a particular case.
What is Forstner known for?
Forstner describes its roots as the Forstner Chain Corporation, founded in New Jersey around 1920, and dates the Komfit design to 1939. These are the company’s own historical claims. Forstner describes the Komfit as an adjustable extension bracelet whose clasp can slide along the bracelet, then lock in place. The company summarizes the idea this way: “Forstner’s idea, put simply, was to make a watch strap whereby the buckle and clasp could move along the length of the strap, and then be secured once the proper fit was located.” Forstner’s history page also describes a ladder-style Bonklip it made around the 1940s, with a push-button clasp that locks into the links.

Forstner identifies Jacoby Bender (JB) as its successor and says the company supplied bracelets associated with watchmakers including Omega, Bulova, Rolex, Longines and Hamilton. Its present-day collection revives classic designs. These historical and brand-history details are company-authored accounts, rather than independent verification.
Which Forstner bracelet fits my watch?
Start with the exact watch reference and case generation, then check the bracelet’s product listing for an explicit fitment. Forstner’s current catalog includes both straight-end bracelets and versions with fitted end links for particular models. A lug-width match alone does not prove that a shaped end link will fit the case.

For example, Forstner lists Bullet bracelets for selected Omega Speedmaster Professional and Tudor Black Bay models, but that does not mean every Speedmaster or Black Bay reference fits every Bullet. Verify the exact reference, generation and end-link configuration against the current product page before ordering.
How do I choose a vintage-style watch bracelet?
Choose by both appearance and construction. Forstner’s range includes designs such as mesh, ladder, flat-link and multi-link patterns. Consider how the pattern and finish relate to the case, then compare the practical details:

- Case interface: Decide whether you want straight ends or fitted end links, and confirm the watch’s exact reference and lug width.
- Finish: Match brushed, polished or mixed surfaces to the case—or choose contrast intentionally.
- Proportion: Look at bracelet width, taper and the visual balance between bracelet and case. A wider-looking bracelet can change the impression of a compact case.
- Adjustment: Check whether sizing uses removable screw links, stretch links, clasp micro-adjustment or another system.
- Wear preference: A sliding clasp or stretch construction adjusts differently from a screw-link bracelet. Choose the system you are comfortable fitting and maintaining.
One concrete option is Forstner’s 5-Link Rivet, which the company describes as a contemporary take on a vintage design. Its stated construction is solid 316L stainless steel links, removable screw links, and alternating polished and brushed finishing. Forstner specifies a 16 mm bracelet section, end pieces up to 20 mm, and an approximate wrist range of 6–8 inches. It says spring bars and a screwdriver are included. These are manufacturer specifications; check the current 5-Link Rivet listing for the version you intend to buy.
Can I put a Forstner bracelet on an Omega Speedmaster or Tudor Black Bay?
Some Forstner bracelets are listed for selected Omega and Tudor models, including examples in its Bullet collection. That is not a blanket compatibility guarantee for either watch family. References, case generations and end-link shapes differ, so compare your watch’s exact reference with the product’s stated fitment. A straight-end bracelet and a fitted bracelet of the same nominal width can meet the case differently.

Forstner’s history page says some early astronauts paired Omega Speedmaster Professional watches with a Komfit or a JB Champion bracelet made by Jacoby Bender. Use the instructions for the specific bracelet: attachment and sizing methods vary. Forstner’s Rivet instructions describe spring-bar installation and screw-link removal, as well as clasp micro-adjustment. If the bracelet does not align readily with the lug holes, do not force it; stop and recheck the fitment and spring bars.

- Confirm compatibility. Check the exact watch reference, lug width and whether the bracelet is straight-end or fitted.
- Attach the bracelet. Forstner’s instructions say to align the end piece between the lugs and compress the spring bars inward until they click into the lug holes. Confirm that both ends are seated securely. Forstner bracelet instructions
- Size the bracelet. For screw-link models, use a screwdriver that fits the screw head and remove links as directed. For clasp micro-adjustment, Forstner warns to push the pins from the back; adjusting from the front can misalign the clasp and prevent it from closing properly. Sizing instructions
- Check the result. Close the clasp and verify the bracelet is secure and comfortable before wearing the watch. If fitment or link adjustment is uncertain, ask a watchmaker or watch repair shop to do the work.
