The King Seiko SJE095’s white dial takes its pattern from the chrysanthemum. Seiko calls the design kiku tsunagi-mon, a self-connecting chrysanthemum motif, and says it draws on the intricate look of Edo-kiriko cut glass.
What does the SJE095 dial pattern represent?
Seiko describes the chrysanthemum as one of Japan’s national flowers and says it represents longevity and rejuvenation in Japanese culture. Those descriptions are Seiko’s framing of the design inspiration.
The motif is named kiku tsunagi-mon: finely intersecting lines form a chrysanthemum pattern that connects with itself. Seiko also links its intricate, faceted appearance to Edo-kiriko, the Japanese craft of cut glass. The result is a patterned white dial rather than a literal flower illustration.
How does the SJE095 relate to earlier King Seiko watches?
The SJE095 takes its angular case design from the 1965 King Seiko KSK. Seiko says the modern model is thinner than the original even though it has automatic winding and a date window.

Seiko announced a worldwide limited edition of 600 watches, including 200 allocated to Japan, in 2023. The launch announcement listed a European recommended retail price of €3,500.
