Maison Alcée describes Persée as its first timepiece: a table clock designed to introduce its owner to assembling a mechanical movement. According to the manufacturer, the kit contains 233 components, of which 169 are assembled by the owner. The regulating organ is supplied pre-assembled; the rest of the movement is part of the build.
The maker estimates approximately ten hours for assembly. That is its estimate, not a guarantee of how long a particular person will need or of an independently tested result. Maison Alcée presents the kit as suitable for beginners, but that is the manufacturer’s claim about its design and guidance.
What is included to help with assembly
Maison Alcée lists 17 tools alongside the components. Its examples include screwdrivers, brass tweezers, a loupe, an oil bottle and oiling tools, finger cots, a polishing cloth and a membrane box. The company says some tools were adapted for novice users.

How the clock works
Maison Alcée describes Persée as a hand-wound mechanical movement based on a wristwatch movement but built at a larger scale. It displays hours, minutes and seconds, and has an hourly chime that the maker says can be switched on or off. The published power reserve is 14 days, and the listed regulator rate is 18,000 vibrations per hour. These are manufacturer-reported specifications.

The movement is intended to be visible, making the mechanism part of the object’s presentation as well as its function. Maison Alcée lists horizontal and vertical configurations for the standard Persée, with dimensions of 100 × 100 × 160 mm and a weight of 900 g. Materials, origin and watchmaking collaborators
Maison Alcée says more than 90% of the components are made in the Franco-Swiss Jura region. The company names watchmaking professionals among its collaborators, including Thierry Ducret, whom it identifies as a Meilleur Ouvrier de France in watchmaking. Its FAQ also names Jean-Marie Desgranges and Antoine Tschumi. These origin and collaborator details are claims published by the maker.

Who is Persée for?
Persée is best understood as an enthusiast’s watchmaking experience as well as a clock. Its appeal is the chance to assemble much of a mechanical movement with supplied tools and structured guidance, then keep the finished table clock. It is less suited to someone seeking a ready-to-use clock with no assembly or who wants a conventional, inexpensive beginner kit: this is a complete, maker-designed table-clock project.
- Consider it if: you want a guided mechanical build, value seeing the movement, and are comfortable setting aside a substantial block of time for careful assembly.
