Which Oris Cervo Volante Big Crown Pointer Date is new?
The burgundy-to-dark-red model is reference 01 754 7785 4038-Set. It is distinct from earlier Cervo Volante Big Crown Pointer Date versions with green or orange dials. Oris’s collection includes both 38 mm and 40 mm models, so the reference matters when comparing specifications or prices.

What movement does the new model use?
It uses Oris calibre 754, which Fratello reports is based on the Sellita SW200-1. It is an automatic movement that can also be wound by hand and has stop seconds, 26 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and a reported 41-hour power reserve. This is not presented as an in-house Oris calibre.
How water-resistant is it?
Fratello reports a rating of 5 bar, equivalent to 50 m. That is a stated specification, not a guarantee that the watch is suitable for every water activity. The rating alone does not establish suitability for a particular use.
Is the Cervo Volante strap deer leather?
Yes. The strap is described as dark-brown deer leather, and the included travel pouch is also made from Cervo Volante deer leather. Oris’s 2023 sustainability report describes Cervo Volante as a Swiss company producing deer-leather footwear, accessories and watch straps. Oris says the company repurposes Swiss deer hides that would otherwise be discarded from regulated wildlife management.
That is Oris’s account of the supply chain; the report does not establish an independently audited lifecycle comparison for this individual watch. The sourcing description should therefore be understood as an attributed account, not proof of a quantified environmental benefit.
