The Credor Eichi II makes a persuasive case for an “exit watch” without making the dial do the talking: its white porcelain face carries only the hour, minute and seconds hands, while its hand-wound Spring Drive caliber and power-reserve indicator sit on the movement side. The platinum reference discussed here is GBLT999. Whether it deserves to be your last watch is personal; what it is, and what distinguishes it, can be described more precisely.
What the Credor Eichi II is
Credor says the Eichi II debuted in 2014, marking the brand’s 40th anniversary and Spring Drive’s 15th. It followed the original Eichi, introduced in 2008. The GBLT999 pairs a platinum 950 case with a pure-white porcelain dial. Its restraint is not an absence of detail: Credor says the dial’s 12 hour markers and logo are painted by hand. Credor’s GBLT999 product page lists the watch’s specifications, while its Eichi II overview gives the model’s history.
The reserve indicator is on the movement side, rather than the dial. That leaves the face unusually spare while making the caliber visible through the see-through caseback. The contrast is central to the watch’s character: a conventional-looking display up front, with a distinctive mechanical-electronic system behind it.
How the 7R14 works
Hand-wound Spring Drive
The Eichi II uses Credor caliber 7R14, a hand-wound Spring Drive movement. Winding stores energy in a mainspring; the watch is not battery-powered. Credor describes Spring Drive’s regulating system as using an IC and crystal oscillator. The result combines a mainspring power source with electronic regulation rather than relying on a conventional escapement. Credor’s 7R14 instruction manual provides operating guidance.

Torque Return
Credor says the Torque Return System recycles energy that would otherwise go unused when the mainspring is fully wound and its output torque is highest. The brand estimates that about 30% of available energy is not needed to maintain precision at that point in a normal movement; the system uses energy to rewind the mainspring. Credor says Torque Return operates for 35 hours after a full wind. It describes the caliber’s approximately 60-hour power reserve as a 25% increase over the 48-hour reserve of the 7R88. These are Credor’s explanations of the design, not independent test results.

These are the figures Credor lists for the GBLT999. They describe the reference, not the measured performance or condition of any particular example.

For a dress watch, 39 mm across and 45 mm lug-to-lug offer useful sizing context, but dimensions alone cannot predict fit; wrist shape and personal preference matter. “Splash resistant” is the description Credor provides, not a rating that should be treated as permission for swimming or immersion.

The ¥4,300,000 and €59,000 figures are launch-era regional guidance, not present-day quotes or resale valuations. Seiko’s announcements document the rose-gold GBLT998 and the blue-dial GBLT997. Those notices do not establish current stock, current retail pricing by region, or secondary-market value.

The Eichi II’s appeal can be grounded in tangible choices: a porcelain dial with hand-painted markers and logo, a hidden-on-the-dial reserve display, platinum or gold case options, and a Spring Drive caliber with a mainspring and electronic regulation. Whether those qualities add up to a final, long-term watch depends on what you want from ownership—visual quiet, a particular material, or interest in the movement as much as the face. The specifications and brand history can inform that judgment, but cannot make it for you.
