The Frederique Constant Classic Moonphase Date Manufacture is a 40 mm automatic watch built around the FC-716 caliber, a combined moonphase and pointer-date display, and a stated 72-hour power reserve. The current steel collection comes in silver, blue, and green dial versions. The detailed specifications below apply chiefly to the green FC-716GR3H6; prices and availability can change by region and retailer.
What is the Frederique Constant Moonphase Date Manufacture?
It is a Classic collection watch with hours, minutes, a moonphase, and a date indicated by hand. Frederique Constant’s current US launch information describes three steel-case versions, all 40 mm, with silver, blue, or green sunburst dials. The two lighter dial versions are shown with alligator straps with navy stitching; the green version has a matching green alligator strap. The manufacturer does not identify a technical advantage for one dial color over another.
The detailed green reference is FC-716GR3H6. It has a stainless-steel case, green brass dial, green alligator strap, and a folding buckle with push buttons. For the silver and blue variants, confirm the exact reference and supplied strap with the seller, since those details are not established here at the same level as the green listing. Frederique Constant’s US launch announcement describes the trio; the FC-716GR3H6 product listing provides the green model’s specifications.

These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. The stated accuracy range is not a guarantee that an individual watch will keep that rate on the wrist.

How the moonphase and pointer date work
At six o’clock, a single display combines the moonphase with the date. A central pointer travels around a peripheral scale numbered 1 through 31 to show the calendar date; the moonphase indication tracks the lunar cycle. Frederique Constant states that one lunar cycle takes 29.5 days.
This layout gives the watch two calendar-related indications in one subdial, rather than a conventional date window. The product listing names the functions as hours, minutes, moonphase, and date by hand. For setting instructions and precautions, use the manual supplied with the specific watch rather than applying generic moonphase-setting advice.

What changed from FC-715 to FC-716?
FC-716 is a later development of the FC-715 platform, not simply an FC-715 with a new name. Frederique Constant Japan’s manufacture timeline says the FC-716 was introduced in 2024 and retains more than 90% of FC-715 parts. The manufacturer identifies a barrel 18% larger and a mainspring 31% longer as the changes that support the new 72-hour reserve.
| Caliber | Power reserve stated by Frederique Constant Japan | Development context |
|---|---|---|
| FC-715 | 38 hours | Earlier platform; the timeline provides the predecessor comparison. |
| FC-716 | 72 hours | Introduced in 2024; more than 90% part carryover, with a larger barrel and longer mainspring. |
The same Japanese timeline lists the FC-716 with 26 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, automatic winding, a 30 mm caliber diameter, and 6.2 mm thickness. These are movement-level figures, not case dimensions. Its manufacture timeline is the source for the development and caliber-history details. The longer reserve is the documented difference that matters most in everyday use; other case, dial, and price details should not be assumed to match across generations.

Water resistance
The US listing for FC-716GR3H6 states 50 m / 5 bar and specifically adds “Still Water Swimming.” Keep that qualification narrow: the listing does not establish suitability for diving, snorkeling, high-impact water sports, or hot-water use. Follow the watch’s supplied care guidance, especially after exposure to water.
Warranty
Frederique Constant’s US launch announcement says the three steel variants come with a five-year warranty. Separately, the product page’s shipping and returns material includes a general two-year limited warranty statement for the US online store. Those statements appear in different contexts and are not reconciled there. Before buying, confirm the warranty that applies to the exact reference, country, seller, and any registration or activation requirements.

Replacing the strap
The green listing gives a 20 mm lug width, a useful starting point if considering another strap. Width alone does not confirm fit: check the strap’s end shape and attachment, as well as buckle compatibility and material, against the watch and the strap you intend to use.

When accessed in 2026, Frederique Constant’s US news page listed each of the three steel variants at $4,995. The green product page also showed $4,995 at that time. Treat that as a time- and geography-specific US listed price, not a guaranteed current price or a universal retail price; the brand notes that US pricing and assortment can differ among its online store and other retail channels. Check the exact reference, stock, and price with the seller before purchase.
