The One UI 8 Watch beta was a 2025 program, not a new download available in August 2026. Samsung moved on to the stable release: it announced One UI 8 Watch for the 2024 Galaxy Watch Ultra on July 22, 2025, while Galaxy Watch8 and Watch8 Classic launched with it. If you own a Watch7 or Ultra, check for a regular software update rather than looking for a beta sign-up.
Is the One UI 8 Watch beta still available?
No. The beta is a past program. Samsung’s August 5, 2025 announcement concerned expanding the One UI 8 beta for Galaxy phones; it said the Watch version would expand later, not that a new Watch beta was opening. Samsung subsequently announced the stable One UI 8 Watch update for the 2024 Galaxy Watch Ultra. Rollout timing can vary by country and model. Samsung’s beta announcement and Ultra update announcement provide the dated context.
The Galaxy Watch8 and Watch8 Classic belong to the later generation: Samsung describes them as using Wear OS 6 with One UI 8 Watch. They shipped with that software rather than needing enrollment in the original beta. Samsung’s 2026 interim report identifies the Watch8 platform and its software.
Which watches were eligible for the beta?
The strongest publicly indexed evidence for the U.S. beta comes from Samsung Community discussions, not a current official eligibility list. Those posts described a restricted program, not an offer for every Galaxy Watch owner.

| Watch | What the available information establishes |
|---|---|
| Galaxy Watch7 | U.S. community discussion identified Bluetooth models and selected carrier variants; it does not establish that every Watch7 model or region qualified. Samsung Community discussion. |
| 2024 Galaxy Watch Ultra | U.S. community discussion identified T-Mobile-related participation. Some owners reported that the watch needed to be actively using T-Mobile service for the update to arrive. These are user reports, not a universal carrier rule. Samsung Community report. |
| Galaxy Watch8 and Watch8 Classic | These launched with One UI 8 Watch and were not the original target of the 2025 beta. |
| Galaxy Watch4, Watch5, Watch6, and Watch FE | The available beta information does not establish eligibility. A later stable update, if available for a particular model or region, does not mean that model could join the beta. |
For LTE watches, do not treat “unlocked” as proof of eligibility. Hardware model, firmware region, the watch’s active LTE carrier, paired phone, and Samsung account region can all matter. Samsung’s compatibility guidance also notes that compatibility varies by watch generation and phone platform; Watch4 and newer Wear OS models depend on Google Play services and are not compatible with iOS.
What One UI 8 Watch changed
Samsung describes One UI 8 Watch as a more information-focused interface, with easier access to items such as Samsung Health, weather, and calendar. The update also brings health and fitness guidance, but features are not uniform across watches, markets, phones, or Samsung Health versions.

Some functions require compatible sensors, a supported country, a compatible Galaxy phone, current Samsung Health software, account permissions, or regulatory approval. Health features are wellness tools and should not be treated as medical diagnoses.
How beta enrollment worked in 2025
The following is the historical enrollment path, not a live sign-up route. Samsung’s public phone-beta announcement confirms Samsung Members registration for beta participation, but it does not document every Watch-specific screen. Labels may also have changed between app versions.

- Install or update Samsung Members on the paired Galaxy phone and sign in with the Samsung account associated with the watch.
- Look in Samsung Members for the relevant beta notice or banner. If the program was open and the watch qualified, read and accept its terms and register the watch.
- Open Galaxy Wearable and select the watch.
- Open the watch’s software-update screen and choose Download and install if the beta build is offered.
- Keep the watch on its charger and connected to the phone while installation runs. Back up important watch data before joining any beta.
Samsung’s phone-beta announcement is at Samsung Newsroom; it should not be read as proof that the same menu labels or eligibility applied to every Watch beta participant.
What to do if your watch has not updated
- In Galaxy Wearable, select your watch and open its software-update screen; check manually for an update.
- Charge the watch sufficiently, then keep it connected to the paired phone by Bluetooth or Wi-Fi while checking.
- Update Galaxy Wearable and Samsung Members, then restart both the phone and watch and check again.
- Confirm the watch’s exact model number and regional variant. For LTE, check the active carrier and whether the model’s firmware region matches your market.
- If no update appears, allow for staged rollout availability and check Samsung support for your country and model.
A missing beta banner is expected now that the program has ended. Other possible explanations during an open program included an unsupported variant or country, a carrier restriction, mismatched account or device region, or closed registration. Do not sideload unofficial firmware as a workaround; it can create support and recovery problems.
Should you install a beta—or buy a different watch?
Beta software can offer early access and a chance to provide feedback, but it may also affect battery life, notifications, sensors, workouts, or connectivity. Rollback rules vary and returning to an earlier build may require a reset or erase data. If the watch is important for sleep tracking, emergency calling, work, or daily fitness records, the stable release is the safer choice.

Do not buy a new watch just to reach an ended beta. First check whether your current model has a stable update for your region. A newer model may make sense for hardware or features you specifically want, but One UI 8 Watch alone is not a reason to replace a compatible Watch7 or Ultra.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Galaxy Watch6, Watch5, or Watch4 join the One UI 8 Watch beta?
