What does Artisans de Genève actually do to a watch?
The atelier describes a bespoke service built around an existing, client-owned watch. The client sets the direction for the personalization, while Artisans de Genève advises and supports the project. The result is not a watch selected from an ordinary product catalogue: it is a personalized piece created through a project with the owner.
That distinction answers a common question: Does Artisans de Genève sell watches? No. The atelier says it personalizes watches belonging to clients and does not sell watches. Its service is for personal and private use.
How the personalization process is described
Artisans de Genève presents the work as a sequence that moves from the client’s concept toward a technically defined and executed project. The client remains the decision-maker; the atelier contributes design and watchmaking expertise.

- Technical design: The concept is translated into design choices and technical specifications.
- Gouaché: The atelier describes producing a hand-painted gouaché, a visual design representation of the proposed piece.
- Prototyping: A prototype is developed as part of the project process.
- Workshop execution: The agreed work is carried out by hand in the workshop.
- Quality control: The atelier says it checks the result as a final stage.
The atelier’s history page says an earlier collaboration brought customization together with restoration, helping lay the foundations for the business. Its later identity centers on enabling collectors to reinterpret watches through Swiss artisanal savoir-faire. The history page also says the atelier formalized a certification process with TimeLab; that statement should not be read as confirmation that every intervention receives an external certificate.
How much work does a project involve?
Artisans de Genève publishes figures to convey the scale of its work. They are the atelier’s own descriptions; the service page does not give a publication year or establish them as independently audited averages.

The same service description characterizes the workshop as having about ten watchmakers, each with more than fifteen years of experience. These, too, are the atelier’s published descriptions rather than independently established figures. They illustrate how Artisans de Genève presents its capacity and approach, but should not be treated as a guaranteed schedule or a promise that every future request will follow an identical plan.
What showcased projects do—and do not—promise
The atelier says its displayed projects were carried out for clients to demonstrate its know-how. They are not offers or commitments. A photographed or featured watch therefore documents past work; it does not establish that the same configuration is currently available to commission.

Requests are handled through Artisans de Genève’s own website and are subject to capacity. A prospective client should treat any example as inspiration for a conversation, not as a standard option with guaranteed availability.
Where this savoir-faire fits in Geneva watchmaking
Artisans de Genève’s described sequence—client consultation, technical development, visual design, prototyping, hands-on execution and quality control—places the atelier’s work within a broader tradition of specialist watchmaking. A 10 April 2024 report by Le Monde on Geneva’s horological métiers d’art describes bench tools such as microscopes, loupes, screwdrivers and tweezers, and discusses techniques including engraving, enamel, guillochage and marquetry.

That is context for the wider craft, not evidence that Artisans de Genève uses every listed tool or technique. The atelier’s own process description is the relevant source for what it says happens on its projects; the broader report should not be used to attribute specific methods to this atelier.

- Whether the requested modifications and any restoration work are accepted for that watch.
- What the design and approval stages involve for the particular project.
- The expected timeline and how capacity affects scheduling.
- Which quality checks apply and whether a certification is included, by whom, and for what scope.
- How the proposed intervention affects the original manufacturer’s warranty and future service arrangements. The published descriptions cited here do not establish the answer.
