The ranking compares the stated thickness of the complete watch, not the height of its movement alone. That distinction matters: movement thickness and total watch thickness measure different things and cannot be substituted for one another. Phillips’ historical overview includes measurements from both categories, so its figures should be read in context rather than combined into a single ranking.
Record language also depends on category and date. Piaget described the 2.00 mm Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon in the context of the thinnest tourbillon watch at its 2024 reveal. Phillips likewise identifies Bulgari’s 1.85 mm Ultra Tourbillon as the thinnest tourbillon-equipped watch at its 2025 introduction. Those are complication-specific claims. They do not replace an overall ranking based on total thickness.

Its report also quotes watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin describing the challenge and purpose of the design: “Making a watch that thin was a real challenge, but life would be very ordinary without it.” The available cited support for the exact figure is specialist coverage rather than a manufacturer specification, so the careful formulation is “reported at 1.65 mm,” not “independently certified at 1.65 mm.”
Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC: 1.70 mm
Bulgari’s product information establishes a 1.70 mm overall thickness for this 40 mm manual-winding mechanical watch. It uses a regulator display, has a stated 50-hour power reserve, and is a limited edition of 20. These details make it a useful comparison with the ThinKing, but the two figures have different kinds of support: Bulgari publishes the Ultra COSC specifications, while Wallpaper* reports the ThinKing measurement.

Tourbillon contenders: 1.85 mm and 2.00 mm
The Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon measures 1.85 mm in Phillips’ account of the 2025 model. The Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon measures 2.00 mm on Piaget’s product page and combines that thin profile with a flying tourbillon. Why the 2026 Bulgari Octo Finissimo 37 mm is not ranked
Wallpaper* reported in April 2026 that the new 37 mm Octo Finissimo has a 2.35 mm movement and a 72-hour power reserve. The cited passage does not state the watch’s total case thickness, so the movement figure cannot be used to place it alongside watches ranked by complete-watch thickness. Bulgari executive Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani said that making a smaller watch required a new movement rather than a scaled-down existing Octo movement.
