How does the Atari Asteroids watch tell time?
The layered dial replaces conventional hands and numerals with imagery from the arcade game. The triangular ship in the center rotates as the seconds indicator. UFO symbols on the outer discs mark the hours and minutes; the asteroids are decoration, not time markers. The ship is designed to look as though it is firing, echoing the game’s action.
Atari’s Asteroids manual describes steering a spaceship and firing photon torpedoes at boulders, which may split into smaller pieces or be destroyed. Some game variations also feature satellites and UFOs. That visual vocabulary explains the watch’s dial, but does not add a game or extra function.
A screw-down crown sets the time. Because the dial lacks conventional numerals and hands, it may take longer to read at a glance; Gizmodo and Tech Advisor both noted that the display can be challenging to interpret.

What are the watch’s reported specifications?
Launch-era coverage describes a Japanese automatic movement, stainless-steel case, sapphire crystal, luminous markings with Swiss Super-LumiNova, and a multi-disc dial. An automatic movement is powered by the wearer’s motion rather than a battery, according to launch coverage.

These figures come from launch-era reporting rather than a currently verified manufacturer specification. The 50 mm case is notably large on paper, so case dimensions and weight are useful to check against your wrist and fit preferences before buying.

What colorways were released, and how many were made?
Launch coverage named five colorways: Nebula Blue, Supernova Red, Nova Nightfall, Plasma Pumpkin, and Celestial Citrine. Reported production totals differ slightly in how they were stated:

Is the Atari Asteroids watch still available?
Current stock and resale availability are not established by the launch-era reports. TechSpot said the line was sold out in its January 29, 2025 report; Gizmodo said many styles were already sold out, while Tech Advisor described availability differently at the time. Those reports are historical, not confirmation of what a retailer or reseller has now.
If you find one for sale, check the exact colorway, seller, condition, asking price, and whether the listing identifies the watch as the Atari x Nubeo Asteroids model. A reported limited run does not, by itself, establish a fair resale price or verify a particular listing.
What should you know about water resistance?
Launch coverage conflicts: Time Extension, TechSpot, and Tech Advisor reported 21 ATM, while Gizmodo reported 5 ATM. Without a verified manufacturer specification resolving the difference, neither figure supports a dependable swimming or diving recommendation. Treat water resistance as unconfirmed and seek written specifications for the particular watch before exposing it to water.

This is best understood as a themed mechanical collectible for someone drawn to Atari’s Asteroids imagery and an unconventional dial. Its spaceship-and-UFO display is the point; it does not offer smartwatch functions, and the nonstandard layout favors visual character over quick, conventional time reading. Tech Advisor attributed this description to the firm: “With its exhibition caseback, custom rotor, and engraved details, each Ventana is a rare collector’s gem.”
