The watch that looks as if it is melting is the Hublot MP17 MECA10 Arsham Splash Titanium Sapphire, a limited edition created with artist Daniel Arsham. Its liquid-like appearance is an intentional design: a splash-shaped dial and a curved, textured case suggest flowing water. It is not physically melting.
What makes the Hublot MP17 look like it is melting?
The MP17’s defining feature is its splash-shaped dial, set within a curved case whose surface has a frosted, irregular texture. T3’s Bethan Morgan described the effect with the question, “Wait, is that watch melting?!” The impression comes from the design, not heat or damage: Hublot and Arsham use the shape and finish to evoke a splash of water.
T3 reports that the 42 mm case is shiny microblasted titanium, with 5-axis laser texturisation creating the textured surface. The skeletonised dial has green accents on the hands, markers, small-seconds hand and power-reserve indicator at three o’clock. A black rubber strap carries Arsham’s monogram. The 240-hour reserve is a reported specification, not a claim about how long the watch will run under every wearing or winding pattern. The reviewed report does not establish water resistance, so the splash motif should not be taken as a statement about underwater use.

How limited is the edition, and what did it cost at launch?
T3 reported that Hublot made 99 pieces and that the MP17 was offered through selected Hublot stores at launch. Its October 2025 report quoted £57,000, $69,000 and €69,000. These are launch-report prices, not confirmed current quotes; current stock and pricing were not established in that report.
Is this the same watch as the Arsham Droplet?
No. The MP17 is a wristwatch with the splash-shaped dial. It follows the 2024 MP-16 Arsham Droplet, a separate, oversized pocket watch inspired by water and ice. Hublot’s page for the Droplet lists titanium, sapphire crystal, rubber bumpers, a HUB1201 Meca-10 manual-winding movement and a 240-hour reserve in its technical specifications. Those details describe the Droplet, not the MP17. Hublot’s Arsham Droplet page gives the predecessor’s product information.
