What Time+Tide’s Black List covers
James Robinson’s Part 2 appeared on 13 May 2020, following Part 1 on 12 May. Together, the pages make a historical catalogue of black-watch designs rather than a uniform comparison of watches with matching specifications. Part 2 ranges across sport, dive and dress-adjacent styles, and its examples use different approaches to a dark appearance: carbon, black-treated steel, ceramic, and black dials or details.
The eight watches below are described as they appeared in the 2020 article. Those descriptions should not be read as a current manufacturer specification check.

Tudor Black Bay Chrono Dark
The roundup described this model as stainless steel treated with matte black PVD and as a limited edition associated with Tudor’s All Blacks rugby partnership. That edition description is period-specific; confirm the exact reference and present production or availability status with Tudor or an authorized retailer.
Undone Basecamp Blackout
A blacked-out take on the Basecamp, this watch pairs vintage-diver styling with a dark finish. Time+Tide listed it at $315 USD in 2020. That historical article price should not be treated as a current MSRP or offer.

Cartier Santos de Cartier All Black
Time+Tide’s entry was an ADLC-coated Santos variant. The coating gives the familiar Santos form a darker visual treatment; the article does not establish present-day production or availability.
Omega Seamaster Diver 300M in Black Ceramic
The article identified this as a black ceramic version of the Seamaster Diver 300M and gave a case measurement of 43.5 mm. Treat that dimension as the article’s description of its featured model, not a specification for every black Seamaster or a substitute for checking the exact reference.

This entry brought black ceramic to the Bathyscaphe line. The roundup presents it as a material-and-finish choice within the dive-watch category, rather than supplying a consistent spec sheet for comparison with the other entries.
Rado True Thinline
Time+Tide described a black ceramic case and bracelet, black steel hands and a black sunray dial. It is the list’s more restrained, dress-adjacent expression of an all-black watch.

Longines Legend Diver Black
The roundup described the Legend Diver Black as having a black treatment and a rubber Milanese bracelet. Check the precise model reference before relying on that description for a present-day specification.

Black is a visual category, not a single material. A carbon case, ceramic construction and a coating applied to steel are different propositions; a black dial or hands can also contribute to an all-black look without making the entire case and bracelet the same material or finish. These choices affect the watch’s appearance and construction, so the phrase “black watch” alone is not enough to compare models.

The Part 2 entries are also not like-for-like alternatives. They span different intended uses and shapes, and the article does not give a common set of measurements, movement details, legibility assessments or current prices for every watch.
